I went to Soi 10 to the old library, but is was gone. Anybody know where a library is?

How do you get to Pattaya floating market? Can I take a baht bus and if so, how much?

Not sure about the library. But for the floating market, yes you can take one of the southbound white baht busses on Sukhumvit road. It will be on your left side about 2 Km after the Chaiyaphruek intersection. The ride should cost you 10B.

Last time I was there (for research purposes you understand) it was closed. Still, lots of old hide-bound volumes, dry goatskin and ancient parchment still to be seen on the street though.

The library moved from Soi 6 to Soi 7 or 8 (?) Soi Theprasit. Go down Soi Theprasit, from Sukhumvit, and turn left opposite Soi Khor Pai.

The old library was in Soi 6 which is probably why you couldn't find it in Soi 10 but it's now no longer there but on Sukhumvit, I think opposite Siam Country Club Rd.

Take a white songthaew or orange rot doysarn to the Floating Market or better still don't waste your time, it's not worth the effort.

I've seen a sign for a library on the Sukhumvit road on the northbound side of the highway.

Just found this....................................The library is situated adjacent to Pattaya Orphanage, and as well as the book collection, will also provide a meeting place for community activities, such as reading and painting workshops and summer programmes for children and young teens from the Orphanage and the Street Kids projects.

The building has also been specially designed for disabled access.

Also found this..............................Pattaya Public Library is nearly ready, when I first saw this load of buildings in Jomtien I assumed it was some smart international company building their offices and that, it came as a bit of a shock to find it is going to be the new public library, I mean this is Pattaya for Gods sake, its easier and quicker to go out and buy some condoms, viagra and a lady of the night than it is to buy a book here, the average Thai in Pattaya may spend an hour a week reading some comic book or bar girls guide to English, the average farang here is quite happy to put on his reading glasses to squint at the latest Suns page 3 girls tits over breakfast for a minute everyday, Amazing Thailand.

Anyway i got to admit it is an impressive group of buildings, these are down some Soi off of Soi Theprassit.

I did find the library and did go inside it in December of 2008. It is off sukhumvit road, just down the street from that Mosque and the Orthodox church. Either is pretty easy to find. The library is not visible from the main road. It is down a short little lane. I would not even try to tell you the name of the streets, but I walked over from the Second road/Sukhumvit intersection. It is a small building. You probably will be underwhelmed by it, but that in itself makes it somewhat worth going to so you can compare it with things elsewhere.

Excuse me,Regarding looking at girls tits I assure you that gets boring,I've done it ,got the T shirt (wet one too) and completely fed up with it ,so now a culture vulture,North Star library for learning Thai,and yes I read like fury,at times with a cutie lying witrh me.

North Star library is an oasis,it is incredible,computers, language skills,books OK few on the ground but they are good ones, all worth a read,dvd rental etc.Glad I found it.

It is only 100 Baht for language class at North star and it is money well spent,plus you can rest one part of the body and use another part(the brain).It sure makes an impression when she's told to get 'em off in Thai, but I suppose language does'nt matter much in crcumstances mentioned as it's only the wallet that matters.Anyway thought I'd keep this thread at the top. An earlier post refers to a brand new library "in Jomthien...off Theprasit Road" - has this opened up yet?

Re. COMPUTERS in the North Star library - is usage time unlimited? Are they free like in the West? Do they have proper software (even MS Office, perhaps?) or just an outdated browser?
