Good Experience At Bangkok Hospital Dental Clinic

I had a previous post about a "check-up" here. Yesterday I finally went back for two small fillings. In my case, though small, I was petrified because due to some childhood surgery, novocaine-type of injections do nothing in that part of my mouth...and this was the most sensitive tooth of all. Laser dentistry. My goodness...the first time I have gone to the dentist in my whole life that was truly pain-free. Loved the dentist -- Dr. Kittipong.

Price -- 4180 baht. And while that may be expensive by Bangkok standards, it just about one-third what I would have paid in the States.

I'm happy! Never said that about going to the dentist before!

Vastly overpriced, I'd say. What's a lil' pain anyway? I'd have been much happier to have saved, oh, 3,600 baht:

You get what you pay for. You want it cheap and to hel_l with quality...that's your preference. It's not mine.

The one thing that never ceases to amaze me in this forum is how many people think of only "cheap".

Not at Bankok Pattaya Hsp, sorry. Do a search and you'll find most posters here avoid it for that reason.

In my earlier post (cf. above) I specifically said, "The quality of the work was as good I've gotten in a clinic." A small filling is just a small filling, pal, not brain surgery. Ones I got at Banglamung for about B200 each (roughly 10% of your outlay) are goin' strong a year later. They didn't hurt to put in, either. Modern drills are a lot smaller and faster than when you were a kid 60 years ago.

It's not mine.

It's just foolish not to consider value for money spent. Now, do tell us about the other ripoffs you've proudly endured.

1. I'm not your "pal".

2. You have every right to go to whatever dental outlet you wish, cheap or expensive, or not go at all. I posted my information because quite often in this forum people ask for information about respected dental practitioners...just as some ask about cheap dental practitioners.

3. I don't know anything about Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. Never been there. Never will. Never wrote about it.

4. I know people who have gone the cheap route and had great luck. I also know a couple who had to have the work all redone withing an extremely short period of time.

5. You're lucky. Going to the dentist seems to be no problem for you. Some of us have medical and/or dental conditions that complicate going to the dentist immensely.

6. I don't smoke. I don't drink. My retirement insurance covers virtually all of my medical care, except dental. Do you mind if I spend a little of my money on reputable dental care that fits my health needs?

Just want to add my two cents.

I am petrified to go to a dentist, too many horror stories to tell, so when I read about laser dentistry in Singapore, that is where my wife and I went.

Hmmppffrrrr... Be careful, laser dentistry works on small and new cavities. It does not work on an old geezer like me and certainly not on previously repaired teeth, it may reflect off the filling and do damage to the equipment. So get informed first (it is NOT on their internet site).

I ended up taking the "knock-out" method (they put me to sleep) so they could do all the work. Paid my bill (which could buy me a small car in Europe) and flew back to Bangkok.

Teeth are good for a few more years now :)

Like Flemmie I have problems with dentistry and anaesthesia is the only way for some job.

Dr Theprasit at Bangkok Pattaya Hospital was the only dentist I could find who was willing

to use IV sedation.

What about nitrous oxide? Bangkok hospital does offer that.

I'm going for many years to Phuket Bangkok Hospital for my dental treatments.

Very good service but not the cheapest.

I opinion is that i don't look at a Baht when it is for my health and I know what the expect from my dentist.
