sussex
I am currently staying in Bangkok on a tourist visa. I was initially granted two 60-day visas and my 30 day extension expires at the end of the month. I have been offered a 3 month contract to work at the United Nations in Bangkok. From what I have read, I understand that I must leave the country and apply for my work visa at a Thai embassy abroad. I have booked a flight to Yangon so that I can apply for my work visa in Myanmar at the end of the month. Can anyone please confirm if this is the correct process and which category visa I should apply for? I believe it is non-immigrant visa category F. Many thanks in advance
InterestedObserver
You need a non-immigrant visa, preferably a "B", and a work permit before you can legally work in Thailand. You apply for the work permit at the Labor Department inside Thailand. Unless you are performing UN official duties I don't think a non-immigrant "F" visa is appropriate and you still would need a work permit.
