Partner Visa For Australia

Hi my partner and I recently applied for a de-facto visa so he can move to Australia to be with me. He just received confirmation yesterday that he has his interview at the embassy in Bangkok in a couple of weeks. I was just wondering in others peoples experience what sort of questions they may ask him at the interview? Thanks

They will ask him questions from the application form and the letters that you wrote detailing your history together.

They will ask a few (deep) personal questions to ensure that:

1. The answers match the paperwork - dates etc...

2. The relationship is genuine.

Make sure all your ducks are in a row.

The interview should not take more than 10 minutes and the Visa should be granted shortly after providing there are no inconsitencies.

The interview can last longer than 10 minutes...it takes as long as they need to be satisfied that the relationship is genuine.

It can take a while after the interview for the visa to be granted.....in some cases it can take months.

We received confirmation yesterday my partner has received his visa and it is available for collection tomorrow.

The process took less than 6 weeks from the date of submission. The case officer contacted us regularly throughout the whole process and was extremely helpful, we were very impressed with her.
