Cashing Cheques In Foreign Currency In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a couple of cheques from USA and Canadian banks (not personal cheques), and just wondering how hard/difficult it would be to cash them here rather than sending them back to homeland and wait for a money transfer.

Anyone had that experience?

Thanks in advance!

A friend of mine deposited a check from a U.S. bank into his Thai bank account.....it took 45 days to clear.

that's right, it would take some 45 days to clear a foreign check in thailand....

so the go-between can milk some interest from processing your honour's check....

but then if you have a seven digit acct with the bank.... the processing time is very much shorter.... :)

just mighty curious.... in this day and age.... you are receiving physical checks from different countries....?

pray what sort of business are you engaged in pls...? :D

Send them home and only deal in direct credits in future.

Foreign cheques in Thailand (or anywhere) :)

Whats a cheque is it a bit like a 33 and a 1/3, 45, or 78 :)

Bangkok Bank from personal experience US/Canada/UK personal checks 21 to 31 days. Government checks instant credit. Cost 10 USD at that days exchange rate.
