Visa Help Needed!

Featured Replies

My boyfriend lives in Australia and we want to know what is the best way to do this. What type of VISA to apply for and what is the easiest long stay VISA to apply for? If he can not get a long stay VISA, is it possible to do VISA runs for 2-3 years consecutivly without being refused entry? Thanks for all the help.

You need to tell us a few more things.

First, what is the nationality (citizenship) - of you and your boyfriend? That's very important.

Second, for what purpose are you coming to Thailand?

Third, what part of Australia is convenient for both of you?

Hi, :D:D:D

Thanks for your kindly me and my boyfriend..

Well,I'm Thai and my boyfriend is Aussie.. :D

He would to travel and work. Well,he would to get a teaching job in Thailand while he stay with me but he have no degree), he would to get a course of tefl or tesol for a job but it seems like the thing important must to have at lease BA so he doesn't sure should take course or not.. what do you think??

I think now Sydney is important for us cause he live now in North Sydney but we would move to Gold Coast/Queensland oneday.. Why?? :D

Thanks.... :o

You seem to be asking about a long stay visa to Thailand and boyfriend working here as a teacher. But he does not qualify for that employment so it would probably not be a good long term plan. You then talk about moving from Sydney to the Gold Coast? If you live in Thailand that does not make much sense unless you expect to marry and then move to Australia. If that is the case perhaps you should plan doing this as soon as you can - especially if he has employment there. If he has no employment or real skill type abilities and no degree getting the degree should be his first priority. If he has skills that offer a future in Australia perhaps you should plan to move there rather than him trying to work in Thailand as a teacher without qualifications. What you plan and do now are likely to have a lifetime effect.

But he does not qualify for that employment so it would probably not be a good long term plan.

When your young and in love Lop the practicalities of things dont seem to matter , there are no obstacles that can't be overcome. :o

Sorry to confuse you but this is what we have planned. My boyfriend lives and works in Australia but he wants to come to stay in Thailand with me for 2 years untill I finish my uni degree. After I finish uni we plan to get married and move to Australia, which is no problem. The problem is that he wants to be in Thailand with me for the next two years, he does not care weather or not her works or not in Thailand as he has enough money saved up to survive, he just wants to know how it is possible for him to just stay with me in Thailand with me for the next two years and what is the best way to do this? He is worried if he keeps doing VISA runs every month for 2 years they will eventually stop him from entering the Thailand. But he is prepaired to work in Thailand if it means he can get a longer VISA. So what do you think the best option for him to do is?

He should be able to find a Consulate that can issue him a one year non immigrant type visa which would allow him to stay for about 15 months with only a border crossing needed every 90 days - then another such visa to complete the two year stay. If he finds legal work he could change to a work visa/extension of stay but there would be no need for work. Do not believe he would have any problem staying two years in this manner if he can afford to take two year time off.

You might want to think about visits rather than him staying full time as a few months apart may be worth it for the long term. If he could continue working and saving money it might be best, unless he is unusually wealthy.

In the case that he will not be working, I think your best bet is that he applies in Australia for 60-day tourist visas (single or double entry (= 120 days with a break abroad in between), as convenient) and when he is required to leave the country to renew his visa, he does so by air and not by land. There are plenty of interesting and inexpensive destinations to fly to within South-East Asia, unless he feels like flying back to Oz for a schooner of Tooheys and a meat pie every now and then.

If he has a few regular stays out of Thailand of more than a month each every year, the chances of him being denied tourist visas in the future are very small. As I understand it, Thailand likes people who come as tourists and spend their savings there, even for extended holidays.

Thailand does not like people who try to get by on a shoestring and cross the border by foot every month, because they understand that in case that person runs into and emergency which requires a lot of money to be solved, somebody else will have to pay the bills. This is a problem for the embassies and also a headache for the Thai authorities.

If he is interested in studying Thai that can also form grounds for a visa, but he needs to have a letter from the school where he intends to study at and present at the embassy/consulate in Oz when applying. Personally I think 2 years without any work or study sounds like a waste of time, but we are all different.

Also, and this is important, he needs to look respectable in all his dealings with embassies and Thai immigration. Whatever one thinks of this, it is a fact - well-dressed and polite gets you miles and miles further in these situations.

What Non-Imm-type visa would that be?

Any non-imm will do, as long as it is multiple and valid for 1 year. Every time to return to LOS, you get permission to stay for 90 days. Enter just before expiry of the visa (let's say 1-2 days ealier) and you get a last 90 days, brings you closely to 15 months.

The easiest non immigrant for him to get - not at student or business - would be "O".

It is not difficult to get a visa in australia. I obtained at 1 year multiple entry type O visa at the brisbane consul office on the way to the airport!! stopped off in the car and got the visa approved in 15 minutes. I had emailed the consul to tee it up in advance. very helpful man. visa expires 12 september but if I come into LOS before 12th I get another 90 days before I have to leave so I get 15 months use. only have to cross a nearby border and re-enter every 90 days.

Send the bf a clear copy of your ID card and have him apply at Brisbane by mail. www.thaiconsulate.ord Good luck
