I started having breakfast there because the beer is so icily cold, especially the stubbies of VB.

Message to Sportsman: Great work, great food, excellent and attentive service with super cold beer all the time.

I agree that the English breakfast served in 'The Sportsmans' bar on Soi 13 is of a high quality.

But the temperature of their served bottled beer has been a persistent problem during 2010. I reported this fact on this forum, back in January 2010, (see link below, post #19) and received feedback which was in full agreement with my opinions.

OK. I have had breakfast 5 times at Sportsman in Feb/Mar and the beer has ALWAYS been cold.

Maybe you have to accept that the 'problem' you reported in January has been resolved?

I have only seen you rant about their warm beer... feedback?

Anyway, why post a complaint to the management in this forum? If I was served a warm beer, I would take it up with the manager at the point of sale. Or maybe you are the shy, retiring type.... a shrinking violet?

I was in 'The Sportsman's' for breakfast this morning and made a few observations:

There is one large upright fridge that is stocked with imported and expensive bottled drinks such as WKD. Bacardi alcopops, import cider etc. and VB lager (your choice). This fridge has a digital temperature indicator (it was showing 1 degree): The beer in this fridge is ice cold.

To the right of this large fridge are a few small fridges which contain the cheaper (70 baht? per 330ml) local beers such as Chang, Tiger, etc.

I was lucky this morning and was served with a cold Chang.

I don't believe that this is a refrigerator problem; I think it is down to luck. If there has been a big run on Chang bottled beer then at some point the fridge is re-stocked with warm beer taken from a warm storage area. Obviously it takes time for warm bottles of beer to chill completely (several hours).

Pattaya Beer Garden has Draft Beer, decent food, and nice tables on the sea.

I was there 2 days ago. I think it was 45B for Tiger and 50B for Heineken. Got there just before sunset. Nice place for a drink. Didn't eat there this time, but have before and the food was pretty good. No girls around to block your view of the sea.
