Thai Airways Ticket Prices?

Recommended Posts

I've been keeping an eye on ticket prices for this summer, but I haven't seen any change in price over the last 3-4 months. Does anyone know if Thai ever adjusts their fares? Any sales perhaps? Or is the price I see now most likely going to stay the same? It's been surprising because most airlines seem to change their prices every 5 minutes! :)

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Yeah, I was shocked to find out that economy class doesn't have individual tvs. I usually fly in TG's premium economy class, though, and the entertainment is great. For that and other reasons, I definitely think it's worth the upgrade!

Price for a Ticket to Frankfurt ex Bangkok in Februar (18 - 28 Feb 2010) was 41300 THB in TG Coach. For May (07-24 May 2010) it comes up with 56100 THB. Same flight, same class of service. That is over 30% increase.

For Premium Eco on TG, sorry but this product is only available on 4 Aircraft out of 73. Only the A 340-500, formerly used on the NYC and LAX Route, offer this class. I agree that is a good thing and also very comfortable.

Well economy class does have individual monitors.....it just depends which plane your on and how old it is. Are you with me on this?

Yeah, I figured that the price would change depending on the date of the flight. I meant that I have been watching ticket prices for the exact same dates, and the prices haven't fluctuated at all over the past few months.

Wow, only 4/73? I guess I'm lucky that my route (LAX) does have it! :)

Gotcha. Most of the flights I've been on did not have individual monitors in economy, so I guess they were probably older planes.

Certainly the 747's they fly to London don't have individual tv monitors in steerage, I have had them on their Airbuses to Oz. I believe they plan to retrospectively fit them to their older aircraft.

Certainly Thai prices are substantially more than other carriers flying to Europe maybe people are prepared to pay more for the direct flight, I have stopped using them.

Just booked my bi-weekly flight to Chiang Mai. Ticket price has gone up from 7'750 t0 11'200 for sild class!!! This is rather nasty and a bad move on the part of TG. I don't think that they currently have full planes...

TG and EVA normally have seat sales in May/June but this depends on how many tickets have been sold and at what price. After the private Schools break-up the UK(about 20th June)its classed as high season. As long as you leave the UK before this date its low and you cna return in ther high season and i assume its works in reverse? :) .

With the present troubles you might be lucky?.

Good luck

I used to fly Thai all the time until their prices got silly ,I guess they are trying to recoup the millions they lost over the last few years.

I normally fly Etihad or Quatar to London and the stop is only around 2 hrs.

New planes, great service and food a lot cheaper than Thai.

I don't even like using them to go to Khon Kaen as the flight is always more expensive than going to Udon for instance but no competition in KK.

I've tried Gulf and Eva too and wasn't impressed but Jet Airways are normally cheap from london if you can stand the rubbish Mumbai airport although this stop is normally only one and a half hours.

Agreed,

I hope the inflight entertainment improves !

They usually give you a Bangkok Post to read....... :)

Ref Cheap fares...Lon-bangkok...

Kingfisher are making inroads (via India)...anyone tried yet?...also OMAN but long stops

...also Emirates are doing some £480 R/Ts...at the mo with only a 1 hour hangover in Dubai..... :D

Etti prices have got stupid ..again....600 plus. :D

Good luckirways

I'm looking to fly mid June and economy fares (excepting Jet Airways) are the same as usual. The only reduction on EVA was for biz class where they come in unusually cheap in fact the best price of any airline surprisingly.

The problem with Etihad is they don't fly to Gatwick anymore and so the abu dhabi london sector is always really busy.

I tried to change the date of my return before and it took me 2 weeks to get a seat on the abu dhabi london sector.

I've heard good things about Oman Air and i've seen quite a few travel companies are using them for packages too.

Thai need to wake up.

I've been flying back and forth from US to Bkk for the past 26 years. I agree with many posters.

THAI Air sucks! I use to always fly Thai, but stopped using them 2 yrs ago. Their prices are just rediculous.

Just wanted to add my two cents and hope others will walk away from Thai also.

booked yestarday london bangkok for a month in july with thai for £680 (cheaper £100 from the published fare), two seats remained. Only half miles accredited. Cheaper than with eva and BA/quantas.

Kingfisher was only some £100 cheaper, so did not bother, as I suspect the same story with slow security in india and small overhead compartments on india-bkk leg (that was with jet airways the last time).

booked with westeasttravel - they do not expect sales.

airlines will just put smaller planes or cancel some scheduled flights, rather than drop the price.

thai airways is most likely to change dates/destination, if any internal problems (that was a verbal promise from the travel agent) - the other airlines might be less understanding.

wherever you fly- search all airlines and be flexible with dates. If you don't want to do the job jourself (might take a lot of time) than ask a good travel agent specialising on this route/country

I have never used Thai Airways from Europe but they are fantastic from Tokyo to BKK. I usually check the website for few months and obviously the prices go up during the high seasons. I managed to buy Tokyo-BKK sector for 550 USD return for August and December 2010. Again it could be due to the recent appreciation of Japanese Yen:)) . From Tokyo. Thai Airways is clean and use newest planes (A330) for this competitive sector.

I second the people who used OMAN AIR. You get free hotel accomodation if connect your flight the next day at Muscat. They too use brand new planes (they just started this company after the break up of the UAE federation plane system, GULF Air). They have great packages and I just bought BKK-Muscat (Oman)-Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) for 900 USD return for DEC.. For EU and US/Canada citizens, you can buy your visa at the airport for 20 USD.

Like it or not Thai International does not change its internet prices very often. Perhaps you will see some discounts on there of local in-country fares...or a special discount for a in-country fare in connection with an incoming international fare, but that's about it.

Thai International, like it or not, is not much interested in their internet fares. They still book most of their flights through their network of travel agents worldwide. They do a lot of package tours for tourists through tour agents...and the discounts are available through those agents. In February, the last time I flew Athens to Bangkok, I saved about 300 Euro on a special discount flight Athens to Bangkok on Thai International but that was only available through a local ticket agent.

You may think that is old-fashioned, but that is the way Thai prefers to do their business. Internet business is not their primary interest.

My parents inlaw have just purchased direct tickets bkk-lhr-bkk in July returning August for 32k bht with Thai and EVA.

Bought the tickets in UK through EMERALD GLOBAL LIMITED, +442073121700.

They were bought as two singles which crazily works out much cheaper than a return bought in Thailand.

I am still trying to work out why!!!!

I priced some last minute flights just now - and just checked my usual 5 airlines.

1. Thai airways - most expensive by a big margin (and you just know they'll have no seatback TVs on the London flights that are still available).

2. Qatar Airways (151K for 4 - 2 adults + 2 kids) - which I thought was OK for last minute.

3. Emirates undercut Qatar, which was the opposite of what I was expecting. 148,500, or they were 141,220 if I'd been willing to spend 15 hours in Dubai airport. With kids - no... (by myself I might have done it as it would have included flying in an A380, and I wouldn't mind seeing the new terminal - 2nd largest in the world after Beijing.)

(Suvarnabhumi is now 5th largest terminal by size - but I'm willing to bet they haven't updated any of their own info to say that as most Thais still seem to think it's the biggest in the world, when it wasn't even biggest when it opened (as they hadn't noticed HK's terminal extension)).

4. Qantas - over 160K - cheaper and better than Thai, and a direct flight too.

Then the shocker

5. BA - 149K. I was so shocked, I booked it... (and although the outbound is on BA, I have the return on Qantas, which is, IMHO, a far better experience than BA for anyone over 5'8").

I will be suffering for the sake of the kids not having to do a stopover, and the shorter queues at terminal 4 than terminal 3, and I'll have 24 hours to recover from BA's evil seat pitch before I have to go to work.

When BA and Qantas are undercutting Thai by significant amounts (at least ex-Thailand), it makes me wonder who is left flying Thai to London? (I like their legroom, and their food, and they treat me fairly well as I have a gold card - but let's face it - no personal TV screens on a long haul flight with kids is no fun...)

I agree! Thai Air does suck. Their domestic Thailand flights are about twice the price of other carriers. I've been flying China Airlines for several years. They seem to beat everyone's price. But I'm not flying to europe, I'm flying further to San Francisco return BKK. It's usually about $1,000 or less economy RT all fees included.

Found out when I landed that BA/Qantas moved out of Terminal 4. Unfortunately BA still keeps Terminal 5 to itself, so the codeshare flights to BKK/Aus with Qantas are now from Terminal 3.
