B-visa For Me, O-visa For Daughter

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

In a few weeks I will be moving to Thailand to live and work for a large engineering company.

I have been advised by the Thai consulate in Ireland that I should apply for a multiple entry Non-immigrant B visa for myself, and a multiple entry Non-immigrant O visa for my daughter (both irish passport holders - daughter is 3yrs old), and the company will arrange the permit once I'm there. I have the letter of offer / work contract etc.

Does this sound correct? I'm not going to get stuck doing visa runs and all that am I?

Many thanks!

With those Visas you mentioned you would have to do a border run every 90 days.

Once you are in Thailand you should be able to apply for a 12 month extension with the correct paperwork from your company.

Your daughter will be able to apply for the same as your dependent.

BTW kids under 14 are not fined for overstay even though technically they have overstayed.

Is the company not providing advise? If this is legal employment at a normal wage level for foreigners and an established company you would only need a single entry visa and then extend your stay at Immigration. As said multi entry means you can only stay 90 days.

Thanks guys.

Yes - the company is giving advise.

Just wanted to double check. They have since double checked at their end too - to be double sure.

THanks again

So, after getting a single entry non-immigrant B visa and a non-immigrant O visa for the dependents, one can just go to thai immigration and apply for a 12 month extension thus eliminating the need to leave Thailand every 90 days? If so, where to apply for the 12 month extension?

You seem to have answered your own question.

one can just go to thai immigration
