Could someone please tell me the current (March 2010) cost of renewing a work permit in Thailand?

100 baht for the application, 3,000 for a 1 year work permit.

Work permit fees are 750 Baht per quarter (3 months) or 3,000 Baht for the year plus administration fee (recently announced gone up/going up from 100 baht to 600 baht).

I thought so, but my labour office only charged 100.

Yes, recent reports indicate there does seem to be some delay in implementation

Hey guys...Advice or help. I am being told by my school that all the English/Chinese teachers need to take the 20 hour culture class. So the renewal of our work permits (all of ours finish March 31)will only be for 90 days, we take the class, then go back and extend for the rest of the year. She said this is a Thai Imm. Dept. rule. I can't find this anywhere. Anybody else been told this?

Thai Immigration has absolutely nothing to do with work permits or there issue (you are talking about work permits and not extensions of stay?); so the message appears to be garbled. But there are requirements for culture class for some but don't know the details. Perhaps posting in the teaching forum would find more with experience.

Yes true true...forgive me on getting the steps all messed up. The work permit I guess is renewed in one spot what I "thought" was based on the contract (1 year contract for me March 2010-March 2011)..then you go to immigration to extend the visa to the end of the work permit...Is this correct? So after all that we are back to my question on the work permit only for 3 mths because they want all of us to do the culture class and return for another work permit (remaining length of contract) ..then visa extension again. Did anybody get this crazy renewal request. In advance I sometimes get all this sh*t messed up.

Some Thai immigration offices will not give an extension of stay to teachers without them having a teachers license or the waiver for it. That is part of the official rules.
