Jeepz
Ten favorite movies (at the moment): Angel and the Badman (John Wayne/Gail Russell) Laurence of Arabia (Peter O'toole) Zulu (Michael Caine) Mr Roberts (Henry Fonda) The Big Country (Gregory Peck) Silence of the Lambs (Jodie Foster) Any mid-forties Sherlock Holmes flicks (Basil Rathbone) Sophies Choice (Meryl Streep) Reds (Warren Beatty/Diane Keaton) Taxi Driver (Robert De Niro) That my list of favorites today. Another day and a few others might shuffle in and a couple drop off. Gregory Peck did a number of good flicks such as 12 O'clock High and The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit. So did Henry Fonda. Meryl Streep was particularly hard to place, The French Lieutentants Woman/Kramer vs Kramer/Out of Africa were all good flicks. I'm probably a bit influenced from reading Sophies Choice as novel and enjoying it. John Wayne in The Searchers was a better flick, but doesn't hit that warm spot that Angel and the BM did with me. I don't have Sean Connery in the list, but I should, same goes for Tom Hanks and an early flick of his: Every Time We Say Goodbye. I really enjoyed the love story. And I forgot South Pacific. I loved it as a kid, but you would never have got me to admit it. I remember seeing Reds at the theatre, a suitably long movie in itself. Afterwards my girlfriend and I came home with take out, flipped on the tube and there was Dr Zhivago on television. We watched it. Talk about Russian Revolution Overload! No, you don't see any contemporary flicks on my list. Nothing against modern movies makers, just they haven't moved me the way the others did. I was probably in a more impressionable phase back then. I do look forward to the upcoming release of "Master & Commander". Based on Patrick O'Brian's wonderful series of naval novels. Jeepz
