Remember, at one time, Sondhi bragged about bank rolling Thaksin into power.

"With the election of Thaksin Shinawatra as Prime Minister in 2001, several of Sondhi's associates became leaders in the new government. His banker, Viroj Nualkhair, became president of state-owned Krung Thai Bank and gave more than a billion baht in "debt forgiveness" to Sondhi, allowing him to emerge from bankruptcy. Sondhi became a vocal supporter of Thaksin, calling him "the best prime minister our country has ever had."In 2005, Viroj Nualkhair was dismissed from the KTB after incurring over 40 billion baht in problem loans. Sondhi then began criticizing Thaksin using the media under his control, including satellite broadcaster ASTV."

----------

The above statement comes from Wikipedia. Is it more or less accurate?

Next, what ever happened to Viroj Nualkhair and the investigation into the B40,000,000,000 in bad loans?

Now I don't even think it was Thaksin who looked into Sondhi and Viroj's handling of Thailand's financing.

It leaves me wondering if some honest, good intentioned auditor got fired by the Abihisit/Sondhi forces. <<< This is a suspicion not an accusation.

I have no idea what position Viroj Nualkhair now holds and what happened to the investigation into the mishandling of those Billions.

The answer to these questions would a long way, one way or the other, to whether Abhisit deserves the 'anti corruption' label that the Yellows are always throwing out.

They, the Abhisit/Sondhi team have had some years to clean up political corruption and bribery in Thailand. Have they been successful. Has Sondhi ever hinted at paying back his debts, seeing he such a 'good guy'?

more from wikipedia, you should also read how Sondhi uses offshore shell companies to avoid paying taxes to his home country.

"In 2004, state-owned Krung Thai Bank (KTB) shocked Thailand's financial world by reclassifying approximately Bt40 billion as problem loans. It was rumored that M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, the Bank of Thailand's governor, would fire KTB CEO Viroj Nualkhair if he did not resign voluntarily. Viroj Nualkhair was Sondhi's former financial advisor, having helped him IPO one of his first companies.[22] As Krung Thai Bank's CEO, Viroj had forgiven Sondhi's debts by Bt1.6 billion and arranged for further rounds of forgiveness. Using all of his media outlets, Sondhi furiously attacked Pridiyathorn and defended Viroj. However, Viroj was eventually forced to leave Krung Thai Bank. Sondhi's public criticism of Thaksin increased.[23]

Is Pridiyathorn still the Bank's governor, or did Sondhi have him banned, like he had 111 fairly elected politicians banned.

This Sondhi guy, the Yellow leader and hero, he is on record as saying that the airport take over is just a small sample of what he can do.

He explicity says he will get "all of the rich people to destroy the Thai economy by withdrawing all their money, if things do not go his way."

I 'think' he means if his puppets are not elected!?

The man should be up on treason investigation just for that comment and all of his rich Thai friends that would go along with his insane plot should be recognized and have their accounts from frozen so they cannot attack Thailand in that matter.

It's NOT a case of Thaksin is good, Sondhi is bad, or vice versa, they are both crocodiles in the same swamp. The Thai political system is a swamp and can only produce these types.

I have NO idea how Chuan Leekpai ever made it to power? He was the ONLY PM who came from a humble background. He led an austere life, even as PM and had some, but way less corruption and scandals during his 2 terms.

The Joseph Solution guarantees that 90% + of elected politicians would be like Chuan.

He is 'blip' in the history of Thai politics.

I have noticed in Thailand that when senior people are publicly shown to have done something highly corrupt, the standard tactic is to keep a very low profile for a year or two until it all blows over and your friends are back in a position to get you a good position again. I am sure this guy has sufficient funds to tide him over for a couple of years.

Isn't Viroj Nualkhair the president of Thailand's Rugby Union?

If that's not him, then maybe the one you seek, sailed away on the good ship "Octopussy" (Yes, that's the name.)

What Abhisit did, or didn't do, about that B40,000,000,000 investigation would go a long way to deciding if he is Mr. Wonderful, or not. If he elevated Viroj and ordered a blind eye to be put on that chunk change, it would show he is Sondhi's puppet, just like Thaksin was.

----------

aha There is a Rugby President and a boat racer with the same name. Whether it's the same person remains to be seen. I just want to know what Abhisit did about the B40,000,000,000?>

Ah, yes, Thailand has a well deserved reputation for corruption and greasing palms. The political structure is set up to poroduce scoundrels. The ones who are good and honest get 'painted'. M.R. Pridiyathorn Devakula, the bank Governor in the OP was doing the good and right thing, even though it put him in Sondhi's powerful sites.

Did Abhisit and Sondhi exact any kind of revenge, or not?

Started reading your Post with interest, but gave up as soon as I read the word Wikipedia!

Are you saying it is innacurate, because it is in Wiki??? lol

You didn't notice I asked for comments as to the accuracy of the Wiki information.

There's a lot of 'wiki' aint accurate people, but it seems a more balanced source than most news outlets. If you have some corrections on the information, by all means educate us, otherwise 'meddle' somewhere else.
