Is Something Going To Happen In This "joint Sitting" Tomorrow?

Chai Chidchob's call for a joint sitting Tuesday has really got the rumour mill flowing. It seems everyone has an opinion on what is going to be discussed there, and nobody believes it has anything to do with "draft contracts" with foreign countries.

One of the Nation's editors has written on his blog that Newin has defected and the meeting is being called to usher in the collapse of the current coalition government. Other's have it that it is simply an intentionally provocative action to try and make the reds do something unwise and thus lead to their quick removal.

Anybody have any really good gossip from their Thai better halves on what is actually going to happen Tuesday?

Is it really just what they say it is? Routine business during one of the most critical demonstrations in recent memory? Seems awfully suspicious to me. There has got to be a hidden agenda here.

I suppose the timing is right to collapse the coalition government, given all the problems they've had over the past few months, however I am surprised that Thaksin would ever trust Newin again. He doesn't seem to be the forgiving type.

Interesting times anyway. At least if the government collapsed the reds would go home and leave the capital in peace. Then the power brokers behind the scenes could go about trying to arrange a new alliance that one side or the other side would claim is illegitimate and we could start the whole thing all over again in a few months.

Seeing as elections are out of the question - as the Reds would win, And a coup is out as that wouldnt be popular with anyone and would only stir up more ill feeling towards the top brass.

So only solution is Abhisit to go and a new coalition & PM with military background installed, with backing from the Army. Reds cant complain as they get the current govt out. Yellows won't complain as the army has the backing of what The Nation & BKK Post like to refer to as 'the invisible hand' and so is beyond reproach.

Yes, I've done a couple of Posts projecting a General standing in the wings, though I don't agree the Reds will be happy with that?
