I don't think they have truffles here but some truffles like stuff that costs about 200-800 Baht/kg depends where you buy it. Very delicious.

From what i understand about truffles is that there need a very particular envirionment and conditions. They grow wild in a few places in France or Italy and apparently ,after years of research, there is a company in Tasmania , that has found a way of duplicating the envirionment and innoculting them so they grow. These conditions could not be found in Thailand apart from ,maybe , in a lab.

I also have read that there is a black market in truffle like flavourings just like there is a blackmarket in artificial safferon . People like me will probably never afford to sample of the real thing too many times in our lives.
