hi all

i am an engineer by trade here in the Uk and would like to run my own engineering company producing general spare parts for machinery welding & light fabrication ,turning ,milling etc serving the many canning plants there are around hat yai in the south of thailand ,this region seems to be quite well industrialised and is well covered manufacturing industry of all kinds from food to petro chem ,may be engine reconditioning too ive already done the odd tractor engine already

has ony one tried this buisiness in thailand ? how was it ? thoughts and opinions please all welcome :)

the first question you have to ask yourself is what is your competitive edge?

You won't be able to compete with Thai shops that have a mechanical turning bench and work for peanuts. If you have the funds to invest into CNC equipment make sure that you have sufficient interest in your products/services to get your ROI...

Did you make some market research?

Last not least...have you ever worked in Thailand? Do you know the specifics of working here? Get a good lawyer to circumnavigate pitfalls you would not be aware of!
