Hi all,

About to submit my wifes spouse visa application from within Australia. Her fiancee visa runs out in June.

Because she has had 2 x 3 month tourist visas and also spent about 7 months on the fiancee visa I think she

will be needing a Federal Police Clearance for this next visa.

I have downloaded the application form from the Federal Police Website and have filled it out ready to post.

I also came across a Form 80 from the Oz Immigration website and Im wondering if this also needs to be filled out

and if so, do I send it off to the Federal Police or does it get sent in with the visa application to the Immigration Office?

One more question regarding medicals and police checks.... When we applied for the Fiancee Visa from Thailand we done both

the medical and the police. Now as far as Im aware both of them last for 12months so I assume I will not have to do the medical

again or the Thai Police check again? Also, we have just been for a holiday to Phuket for 5 days. Got back yesterday... would that make any difference

to her needing another Thai police check?

On a side note, I dont think I will be going back to Phuket any time soon. First visit and found it to be very expensive compared to everywhere else

I have been in Thailand.... Im not used to paying 400bt for a tuktuk when I pay 10bt for a baht bus. It is a very very nice place though, excellent beaches

and excellent food. I had my first real aussie steak at a restaurant in Karon called buffallo steakhouse (I think...) Cooked just like I have at home (650bt...)

Thanks for any replies,

Troy.

She probably will require an AFP clearance.

You shouldnt need to fill out the form 80.....unless requested by the Office who processes the application.

If there is a child under 18 involved in the application then you will need to do an AFP clearance as well.

The original medical and Thai police clearance should be ok....but as always, it is at the discretion of the Embassy...be prepared to re supply if asked to do so.

Thanks mate, thought you were right but wasnt sure. I have submitted the AFP and when that gets back I will go to Immigration and hand in the spouse visa application.

One thing to be careful about re the "AFP" check.

The "Completion Check List" where referring to documents to be included with the application, states that a COPY of Drivers Licence or Passport is acceptable..............It does not specify CERTIFIED for these two items. Further on it does however state certified in the case of a birth or marriage certificate.

Okay, so last week I sent in the application together with a copy of my wife's passport, as asked.

Thinking about it now though, one would imagine that this should have been a certified copy..............thus waiting now to see if I get the un-certified item to be returned to us to be certified?

BTW. This current AFP check is for the application for the "100" visa. The application was mailed to us in Australia on the 29th January, but we were in Thailand and did not receive it until returning home last week, thus we are right on the end of the 2 month application deadline.

I did however email prior to going overseas and informed them that we would be most likely overseas when the application was due. They replied stating no problem, so have now emailed them again stating that we will most likely be a few days over the 2 month limit!..................... Awaiting their further reply.

Yes I was aware of the fact that the check list stated that... however, I did call the AFP and they told me that I only need to send an uncertified copy of passport and all will be fine.

The officer also told me that I dont need to supply the marriage certificate if I have a photocopy of my wifes passport. So you have nothing to worry about.

Regards,

Troy.

We Didnt worry about Police or Medical for Spouse Visa as it was all handed in with the Fiancee visa. The two Visa applications will be linked so I dont think you need to worry.
