March 24, 201016 yr The moon is bright deep orange. (2 am)......... Viewing west across The Gulf from a remote point. I've only seen such coloring in the event when extreme weather and bushfires meet. And moon sets. It is amazing. Is anyone watching this?

Weather is perfect for weeks too,
March 24, 201016 yr The fires do not have to be 'local'. Upper air streams can carry smoke for thousands of kilometres. As you may know, Asians love to 'burn off' everything. Pattaya is quite often left in a blue haze for days before the wind blows the smoke away. The smoke doesn't come from Pattaya...it comes from places hundreds of kilometres away.
March 25, 201016 yr Could also be due to the sandstorms currently sweeping over China. Once stuff gets into the upper atmosphere it ceases to be a local thing.
March 25, 201016 yr Orange colour is normally associated with eclipse of full moon, by the earth. Hint: you know why the sun is really orange in the morning and at sunset? Refraction from low level particles in the air allowing only the red wavelengths through. Edited March 25, 201016 yr by bkkjames
March 25, 201016 yr That's all we have had for the past two months is an orange moon when we could see it. Chiang Mai
March 25, 201016 yr Maybe you drank to many local beers, had a walk down Sukhumvit and bought a pair of really cheap sunglasses? I prefer blue lenses.

"Two buddies walk home early in the morning after a jolly good party. Look, the moon is red, says buddy 1. No, says buddy 2, the moon is yellow.....you are quite drunk, aren't you. All of a sudden they spot a police man approaching them. Excuse me, officer, could you please tell us if the moon is red or yellow, buddy 1 asks. The police man takes a look at the moon for a while and then he asks; which one do you mean, the one to the left or the one to the right?"
