Missing Insurance Company

Featured Replies

Went to pay my car insurance and they are no longer there.

Known as the "General Advance Group" (AIG included on the card) they used to be on the Super Highway next to the Esso Servo, just after the Wiang Chai turn off.

Lady in the noodle shop said they moved "somewhere near Top".

Mrs rang and rang and rang, no answer. Mrs having very un-Thai like loss of chai yen along with Anglo Saxon vocabulary exercises.

Anyone seen them around? The guy rang me last week to remind me to pay, just never happened to mention that they had moved.

Scea, i think the Mrs knows were it has moved. She had the same trouble. She's away and'll be back tomorrow evening, I'll ask her and let you know. Send me a PM with your phone number. i'll post details of the new location for any other's forumers benefit.

Why go direct - much easier to use TV Ins Brokers from your own internet :)

I've got a pretty good no-claim discount built up here, may as well stick with it.

I haven't heard any good or bad reports about TV Insurance. :)

I'm with you, I want to keep my no-claims discount with my current insurer as well.

I'll be asking them about my new (second hand) bike as well for first class insurance. :D

We're in contact by phone, they say they'll send someone out with the paperwork if we don't want to make another trip to town.

It might be the same company that I have my houseinsurance in and they moved to the "Bus-station-road", coming from super highway maybe 100-150 m in on your right side!

I used TV Insurance for my Motorbike and teh service they provided was very good I have to say. Also, if you can show proof of a No-Claims Bonus (e.g. as shown on your policy x amount MINUS Y amount of NCB) a new insutrance company will generally honor that or at least the major part of it

True.

It's fixed now anyway. The lady came out and got it sorted.

When she left I asked the Mrs if we knew where the new office was now and she said "Yes, over near Top". :)

OP, They were there yesterday but heard you were coming down for renewal today and they packed up and p1ssed off. Wonder why that is :)

I wondered why they wouldn't take a cheque this time. :)

That's an excellent one!

When I finally decided to take a 'third-party' insurance after driving with only the

compulsory one for many years, they were willing to accept a rather aged 'no-claim'

discount from my earlier days in my home country.

As the gentleman couldn't give me the full 75 % discount we settled for 50 %, but he could

compensate at least a part of the difference with a 'fleet-discount' (because our clique of

Chiang Rai foreign residents works closely together concerning this kind of things).

Never knew that insurance could be that cheap in Thailand.

I got the option to change any time to a 'class A' with the same discount.

I think the one at the superhighway was the former 'Zuerich", later taken over by

Thai/siri. My advice: co-ordinate this kind of things with your friends and go 'shopping'.

You will be surprised about the possibilities!

Limbo :)

Reason for editing: Just realized that the 'no claim' went up again this year, so that I

probably are approaching the 70 % again. Paid something like 1850 (excluding the

750 Baht compulsory).

So what does that cover you for Limbo?

Damage to your car?

Damage to yourself?

Damage to other people?

Damage to other people's property?

The last three you mentioned.

Including passengers in my own car.

I may consider that next year, I have full cover at the moment which even with five years no claim discount is over 13,000B a year.
