March 29, 201016 yr Up in the hills behind Ratchapreuk, this must have been moving pretty fast because it changed shape a lot during the five minutes I was taking the picture (from the Hang Dong Road near Ban Wan Tan, by the way). Oops! Sorry about the spelling - I can't see a way to edit the topic title. Edited March 29, 201016 yr by Greenside
March 29, 201016 yr Great picture, Greensides. It looks like a alien space craft because you can't see the mountain under the light from the fire.
March 29, 201016 yr Author You should be able to just about see some trees in the foreground - they're there on my monitor (if I move my head about a bit).
March 29, 201016 yr You should be able to just about see some trees in the foreground - they're there on my monitor (if I move my head about a bit). Yes, it is the trees in the foreground that make it so interesting. The fire above just looks like it's suspended in space.
March 29, 201016 yr Cough, cough. This weekend riding east from Phrao on the 1150 passed a large forest fire, massive clouds of smoke choking the road for quite a distance. Didn't stop to take any pictures, just wanted to get the heck away from the smoke and falling ashes. Anybody up for a rain dance?
March 29, 201016 yr There was a similar one up there last night. I think we're over the worst of it now for this year, the winds from the south/south east have been pretty strong for the past few days. Despite the best efforts of the pyromaniacs the rubbish is getting blown away now.
