My husband needs to enter the US for the day and then return back to Canada by car.

Will they let him with only 3 months validity on his visa?

Could be a problem with just checking in with your airline in Bangkok. They like to see the 6-month validity of a passport in addition to the U.S. visa.

If you get past the airline check-in queue, then Thai Immigration might question it.

If you get by both of those, then U.S. Immigration will be sure to question it.

All this happened to my Thai wife a few years ago. She had a 10-year U.S. visa and while we were waiting to check in at Swampy, I happened to notice that her passport had only 17 (that's seventeen!) days remaining validity! Ouch! She would not have been a happy camper if I'd told her to take a taxi home....

In the event, I sweet talked the airline into letting her check in. Thai Immigration pointed out the potential problem but stamped her out. Then at Seattle came the semi crunch. The U.S. Immigration officer, an older Asian lady, pointed out the problem, I said it was my screwup, and showed her that we had confirmed tickets departing in 16 days. She said OK, and stamped the wife in for 16 days, just a little leeway.

So, might not be worth the chance if there's any way your husband can get a new Thai passport before departure. Normal time at Chang Wattana is about 3-4 days and EMSed to your home. They might have an expedited service where you just wait for it there.

Then on airline check-in and U.S. Immigration, just show both passports, the new one and the older cancelled one with the 10-year visa. That works fine for my wife, perfectly proper and allowed. The airlines and U.S. Immigration are used to it, and there is NO provision by the U.S. Embassy to transfer the 10-year visa to a new passport.

Is it the passport or the visa that only has 3 months validity. If its the visa no problem, if passport problem. By your post I'm assuming you are in Canada. Does your husband hold dull passports? As for the Thai passport if it is close to expiring just renew it, depending where this can be same day or one week. Just carry both passports the US will not transfer a visa.

Title says 10 year mutli entry, so am assuming he's only got 3 months left on his passport. Even coming over the border by car its highly unlikely they will let him in, my understanding is that most countries require at least 6 months left on the passport.
