webfact Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Superstar Lin Ping gets new home CHIANG MAI: -- Panda cub and celebrity Lin Ping yesterday moved into her new Bt20-million home at the Chiang Mai Zoo, while the government plans to ask China to let her stay here for two more years. Zoological Park Organisation director Sophon Damnui presided over the ceremony to release the 30-kilogram panda, which was born at the zoo 10 months ago, into her own 300-square-meter exhibit. He also said Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suwit Khunkitti would be in Beijing from April 7-9 to ask that country's Forestry Department to amend the agreement to extend Lin Ping's stay and request a permanent panda research centre in Chiang Mai. By April 10, they should have an answer, which is expected to be positive, Sophon added. -- The Nation 2010-03-31 [newsfooter][/newsfooter]
