Does anybody know of any monks in Thailand who are able to chant like this.

I find it awesome. I need someone who can do this for a very special occasion.

Perhaps you noticed that all the related stuff was Tibetan/Sanskrit/Mahayana ....this is not a part of Theravada Buddhism

Yes I did Thank you. The monks in my area all read sanskrit, and just as you may be here learning new ideas maybe concerning Buddism, then Monks themselves do learn new skills. One Monk at my local Wat studied in Tibet, but he cannot do this type of chant, it is very specialist, hence my reason for simply asking if anyone was aware of any Monks in their area that can do this. Thank you.

I will add that the practices of Theravada are found in the Mahayana and the Vajrayana. The teaching of the Lord Buddha are still the same. Theravada practices are the foundation of all Buddist practice. Metta

Tigs,

A very amazing video.

This one, also called Heart Sutra, was the next in line.

Here's an idea. The monk obviously knew it was being recorded. What was his purpose? Do you think the clip can only be meant as a 'demonstration' or categorised as a 'gift'.

I found I could 'tune in' to both clips. Maybe a large monitor and good speakers could be used as a 'fill in' for your occasion, if you think it follows the intentions of the maker of the video. You can tell that I do; the medium is the message.

Following your display of lateral genius thinking, I went over to our new house (We are having it blessed at the end of the month) and connected my laptop to a powerpoint projector and speaker system. The house is finished but still empty of furniture so sound carries. I projected on to the wall at maximium size and turned the speakers up loud. Boy oh boy what a result! Quite amazing! Thanks, definitly a gift!

Tigs,

That sounds amazing. I'm glad to hear of the results. One further suggestion would be to invite a local monk to view the show. Maybe you could ask permission whether it would be approriate to have a scaled down version going in one room on the day of the 'blessing'?

up to him...

hmmm .. I'm starting to think you should post on You Tube, the projection show AND the blessing ceremony!?
