African Street Scammers In Thailand

There has been a larger influx of African hookers around Suk in the last 6 months.

I remember talking to two African women from Kenya (if I remember correctly) about 2 years ago.

They were there buying clothes for their store back home.

Not hookers or scammers but genuine business people.

For all you world weary and savvy persons who reside in Bangkok the reason why I read this thread was so i could see if anybody else had the same experience as me whilst on a prolonged stay in Thailand. Now at the risk of looking stupid ( you don't have to tell me I am still kicking myself) the reason I joined the forum was to warn other woman of my experience. I probably haven't come across any other woman stating there scam from sheer embarrasment but I would hate for other woman to go through the same experience. i was a victim of a love/romance scam but in real life. Unlike others who have for whatever reason some preconceived ideas about race I had no such misgivings and was not opposed with to the approach of a handsome black man approaching me for the purpose of starting a romance. These people are unbelievably clever at lying and I was missing a few thousand baht before I realised what was going on. Please try not to be so judgemental about people who are caught up in these scams of one sort or another. You have to be there.

The good news? is that apparently the Foodland and associated premises are on the bulldozing block in the coming weeks / and months so will be looking for a new home I imagine.

The fact that he pointed out, and identified a certain ethnic group does not make him a racist at all.

The problem these days, is you are immediately labelled a racist whenever you make such a point.

Perhaps I am anti-muslim then, when I point people at the Saudi Arabian judiciary who have sentenced a Lebanese man to death for sorcery!

The problem with the OP is not that he highlighted something he perceives as being a problem, the problem is that he slings tired cliches and presents them as fact:

I truly resent all the racist comments that are evolving within this post, particularly the petty people accusing myself of being racist when they know absolutely nothing about me. I could even be of African decent myself.

What I posted is purely factual information for everyone's awarness and in hopes that it might bring about a change or even prevent someone else from getting ripped off. Where else have you read such pointed, factual information about this situation in Thailand?

As one poster said, we can't deny there is a serious problem and I am simply bringing it to light and helping to educate some people about it who might not be aware. FULL STOP.

When I am in Thailand I expect to be scammed more times than not and am pleasantly surprised when I truly get a good or fair deal in exchange for my baht. I also read the Internet for the latest or most common scams so that I won't fall victim and it has helped me avoid the Tuk-tuk scam, the Gem scam, the airport taxi scam, little kid pickpocket scam, dual pricking scam (I still fall pray to that from time to time). I also have been warned of the correct change scam, drugged drink and theft scam, fake monk scam, beggars scam, Taylor shop scam, airport shoplifting charge scam, the "I love you" scam as well as all the rest. Half the fun of visiting Thailand is being able to avoid the scams.

My own experience, I find that Thailand has treated me and my other black friends as if we were celebrities and are often invited into places that many white visitors are seldom welcomed. I don't think it is a racial thing in that case, I think it is more of an attitude thing.

I am talking your average every day girls. I have talked to many of my wife;s friends and this subject did come up once in a while (not often though) and they confirm what i said. Those girls don't have to make me feel good.

I have just made the payments now and i expect paypal to have emailed by now,i sent €9,762.44 EUR in all, to ([email protected]) paypal said they would be holding the funds and it will not be credited into your account because of the excess payments of €650 EUR i added meant for pick up and delivery,they said they have emailed you to this effect, you will need to send the €650 EUR to my pick up agent Headquarters via western union money transfer,so that paypal can credit the €9,762.44 EUR into your account as soon as you have emailed the western union details to them, i added extra €100 EUR to cover the western union charges which shouldn't be more that €40-50 EUR but just to be sure i added €100 EUR, Here is the pick up agent info needed to get the money sent through western union money transfer:

I had a lady tell me he never liked black guys, after meeting her the second time in company of her friends, my name was then 'sweetheart' cos after the first meeting, we went to Hua Hin for the weekend.

The debate here is not being white or brown, or the use of steroids, rather its about over generalisation that every colored folks out there is a scammer or have been to prison.

I always have tea once a week at the Sukhothai, and would occasional spend my evenings on the 54th floor of Banyan Tree, I wear Ungaro shirts and smell good, and I lastly I do not give a fuc_k of what your wife and her friends think of colored people.

Of course there are African scammers and criminals operating in Thailand, but please first take a look at the activities of our own people, the Farangs.

How many are operating bars, massage parlours, restaurants and other businesses illegally? How many are dealing or using drugs here? How many own real estate, own land, farms and shops here illegally?

Than there are your visa dodgers, property scammers, pedos, the list goes on and on.

If the Thai authorities would consider having a real clampdown on these criminals, than please let that include all the scum rather than those of a particular nationality or race.

Its not what they think of colored people they just dont find them attractive. Just like i am not attracted to black girls (there are exceptions but im talking in general). Obviously you do seem to care else you would not react so profound.

One of the weekly rags recently published an article regarding this specific situation. Just as many TVers, the Thai reporter claimed she wasn't prejudiced, but the actual article proved otherwise. "I saw two Africans talking - it must be a conspiracy to commit a scam!" "I saw two Africans talking to a white woman - she was probably being propositioned!" I asked that question directly and was told it didn't matter because I was not Thai.

Just as people in the black community here in the USA have their views on dark skin, it does not translate outside of the race. So if I have strong feelings on the skin color of other blacks that most likely has nothing to do with the skin color of other races.

Thailand's skin issues are for Thai much like in my own race/community.
