ayahuasca
Good day. I would appreciate recommendations of the top orthopedic surgeons in Bangkok. I am presuming the best are in Bangkok. I recently had a clavicle surgery on Koh Samui -- broken collar bone from motorcycle fall (yes I wore my helmet). I question my judgement on having surgery on Samui. The care was so so, the surgeon lied about what kind of plate they were using. They don't seem to know much about rehabilitation, or the side effcts of the drugs given. In the end it cost 225,000 Baht (US$7,000), including a 5 day hospital stay...whatever, not a big deal but enough money for excellent care I think. Because I am uncertain as to whether they did a good job I am considering: A. flying to the states (US) and getting reviewed by a top surgical group. B. flying to bangkok and getting reviewed. I would prefer to do B. but only if I can get some really excellent recommendations. I mean "best in asia" or somesuch. Thank you very much for your responses! btw. I recommend if you get broken bones, e.g. clavicle, legs, etc on Samui, just have them shoot you with morphine and get on a plane for bangkok or elsewhere. Don't rush into surgery. If it's not life threatening, better care is available elsewhere!! (tell your friends). Just insist: vitals, morphine, and a taxi! :-). Comehome
Oh my! What hospital did you go to in Samui? If you dont want to write it here you can send me a PM. My husband had surgery in Bkk after an accident on Samui too. We lived there for over 3 years but are in Bkk now. He also had physio therapy in Samui but it was very different from the physio therapy we know from europe and my husband used to be a professional personal trainer when we lived in europe. Hope you will be fine and i think you will get the help you require in Bkk. My husband had his surgery in Bumrungrad Hospital, but it was not a broken bone. It was a cartilage damage from a twist injury. Take care now, comehome

If in Bangkok, the best knee specialist here IMO is Dr. Panya at Bumrungrad https://www.bumrungrad.com/doctors/Panya-Wongpatimachai the doctor you mention is also very well qualified, his correct name spelling is Pruk Chaiyakit and he is at several hospitals: http://www.phyathaione.com/find-doctor/1523 https://www.praram9.com/doctor_detail.php?id=124#top Vajira Hospital - this is a government hospital, probably has an after hours clinic where she can meet him directly. Will cost much less but less convenient, have to go in person for appointment and may be long waits. have a Thai speaker along at least the first time. The doctors who do knee replacement are the same ones who do simple arthroscopy and other treatments, she does not have to fear that going to a doctor who does knee replacements means he'll insist on one. It depends on the severity of her condition. less invasive than arthroplasty is injections of HA (synvisc) though the effect is temporary (about 6 months). Weight loss an physical therapy can also often help.
trevorhill
Hello, I will be in Bangkok for two weeks at the end of July and am considering getting carpel tunnel release surgery while i am there. Can anyone provide with with a doctor who they trust and know is familiar with this procedure? An institution they would recommend? the cost associated with such a procedure? Is it feasible to do in this time frame? Thanks in advance for all your help!
Sheryl
Are you sure you can get in, given the COVID restrictions? Most foreigners cannot. If coming on business may have tyo quarantine first for 14 days. that aside, for carpal tunnel this doctor who is at several different hospitals https://phyathai2international.com/doctor.php?pid=148&lang=en http://www.thonburihospitalkh.com/index.php/profile/prof-dr-panupan-songcharoen/
