Dear Pandit,

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I downloaded and installed the DC++ software and after connecting to the "expathub.dyndns.tv" get the following error:

*** Connected

<-YnHub-> YnHub version: 1.031 produced by Yoshi and Nev.

<-CORE-> Current user count: 15 after 03:54:47 uptime

<-CORE-> Current sharesize is: 1.58 TiB

<-YnHub-> You're not sharing enough, your sharesize is 0 B and the minimum allowed is 5.00 GiB

*** Disconnected

I'm new to this kind of programs, and would appreciate your guidance.

P.S. I was not able to find the following line (as in your instructions on http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26928):

FILE/SETTINGS Upload slots = 2

in the settings tab click sharing and add folder, this will result in a browsing pane where you can choose a folder to share on the hub. repeat the steps untill you have at least 5 Gb shared in order to connect.

set upload slots to 2

over to you Pandit

Yes sorry, the Upload slots is located at FILE/SETTINGS/SHARING - then look down to the bottom for the slots. This means that up to 2 people can download files off you at a time.

To be in the hub you must be sharing some files. You do this in FILE/SETTINGS/SHARING - and click on ADD FOLDER. You will need a minimum of 5 gigs of files to enter the hub. Actually the minimum is 20 gigs, but we allow 5 to let people get started. Share your music, or video files copied from VCDs to start with. If you decide to stay in the hub then you will have to share some video files. But you can share the ones you download through the hub if you don't have any others.

If you are usind a router and not a usb modem, then you will have a headache setting up your ports ... but that's another story. In the Hub Orangeman is the guy with the most childrens stuff, which he claims is to help teach kids english, but we all really know it is for himself. He can put you on to relevant torrent sites.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Unfortunately, what is happening now, as soon as I start the program I get an error message:

"DC++ just encountered a fatal bug and should have written an exceptioninfo.txt the same directory as the executable. You can unload this file at http://dcplusplus.sf.net/crash/ to help us find out what happend..."

I have sent that "exceptioninfo.txt" (see below) file several times already, without getting back any feedback.

Here is its content:

I have already reinstalled the program, but no changes... may be I need to uninstall it first and then install again.

I should probably mention that I'm running Win98 SE.

Ok, I've reinstalled DC++ and now am able to connect to the hub...

I clicked on the Orangeman (in the right pane) but constantly get that "connection timeout"...

I'm also not clear what the long and narrow (1 line) window with the cursor blinking in it, is for?

Could it be that the problem is somehow related to the changes in IP? May be before closing program I need to manually delete the existing IP, and insert a new one with every login.

you will need to put the current IP into FILE/SETTINGS/CONNECTION SETTINGS evry time your IP changes. Actually this can be worked around with a dyndns, but I don't bother, I just put in the new IP every 24 hours. Ask in the hub if you want to set this up later.

the main page on the left is the chat screen, and on the right are the users. once connected to the hub ask in the main chat screen for help.

I can't imagine why DC++ crashes for you. It is the most stable of the available programs for the DC system, and I have never heard of it crashing like that.

If it continues to crash you could try a different client ( access program) there are a few alternatives here:

http://www.slyck.com/dc.php?page=2

We do not restrict what client you use, but I would avoid DC Pro as there have been compatibility problems with it.

Once connected ask for help in the hub to get going with it. Please use your Thai Visa name for a log in name so that we all know who we are talking to.

Hi everyone,

Finally, I was able to connect to the Expathub using my DC++.

Um, couldn't you just drop in at a store somewhere and buy a vcd/dvd? There's Maeng Pong, Power Music, and lots of other shops everywhere..  :o

My dear siamesekitty, I just did what you have recommended and bought several DVDs: Popular Karaoke Thai songs: "Karrot Mafa" and some other (which my daughter likes very much), Bugs Bunny & Daffy Duck (several volumes) in Thai, which isn't good at all, The Adventure of Rocky and Bullwinkle, etc.

But, what I want to find is the cartoons like "Sesame" that is shown on UBC TV, and other that would help in child's education both in Thai and English.

And I did not find such stuff in the shops you've mentioned. And I'm still searching what is available at the members of Expathub.

Any help in finding children cartoons and karaoke songs would be much appreciated.
