New Politics = Old Politics..... same same!!!! :D

It will be a reform that is not reducing 'democracy' to a vote every five years and in between the mob in the street with heated arguments, aggression and noise pollution. :)

There are a number of groups in the Red Shirts, they even have a branch of the old Thai comunist party, but I suspect that they are slowly coalescing into a broadly based Social Democrat party along the lines of the U.K.'s Labour Party.

Therein is an answer, however there has been no policy statement from the protest organisers apart from resurrecting Thaksin and his corrupt ideals.

Many people no doubt have sympathy for the poor , lower orders whatever name tag one may give them , however they have never empowered themselves.

Change has to come from the roots not from the top led by a rabble rouser, a strolling minstrel, a redundant old communist, all a collection of a sad and sorry bunch of wannabees and has beens all puppets of a megalomaniac fugitive.

The rhetoric is one of malicious hate espousing violence and YOU WILL DO AS WE SAY ,

That's DEMOCRACY ?

No the powers that be have got to remove the kid gloves and show that the country is not a failed state sliding into anarchy all due to Thaksin and the rabble whose strings he pulls. , not the ordinary red Shirt Brigade members.

Sadly now people could be hurt, well you can guarantee that the leaders and Thaksin will indeed be leading from the back, yet waiting in the front line for any spoils of war that may come their way.

Let the demonstrators who wish to depart go, if any of them want to stay and fight let them do it, law and order must be enforced to save this country from descending into another Somalia or Zinbawbe .

Quick NEWS FLASH for the 'thick' :D :

Deputy House Speaker Apiwan Wiriyachai, IS a Puea Thai MP for Nonthaburi, so he's firmly in the Opposition camp and hardly a reliable "white horse souce" err 'white house source'. :D

Yes of course.

This is more propaganda for the press and the Red rank and file.

:)

It was probably done to ease the heated situation. Saw that in the evening news, MP Apiwan in his civilian 'senator' dress, a non-combatant on a truck full of red warriors. That made an impression on the reds. Unlike Singasong Arisman he had some authority, appealed for peace and to refrain from breaking into the house. Addressing and and downplaying some of the Reds biggest concerns, saud it will not happen"that the army will kill, massacre and teargas them (aka. organize a free bus shuttle service to Mo Chit, providing a bag of rice, canned fish and the ticket to back home) He turned their anger into a cheerful mood. Preventing that the situation will get out of control and ugly because of a few hot heads. Apiwan did his duty. :D

And it isn't entire fiction that Abhisit hasn't the full support of the military. The other English pampers reported investigation about leaked documents that went direct from the CAPO head office to the red stage show.

Furthermore it is clear that beside the Jatuporn and Abhisit meeting, other people behind the lines hold negotiations and still continue to do so. Talks without Jatuporn and Abhisit. Don't forget the dissolution of the Democrats is coming. "The Moor has done his duty, the Moor can go". :D

The footage from inside the building and the confiscation of the weapons looked very bizarre. Few acting reds where out numbered by a much much bigger bunch of journalists, camera men and photographers, behaving rude, harass everyone, push and shove each other in the hope for the best picture. :D

If the media presents such strange circus as the interesting part of politics, the next generation will think that is normal. Time for a change, time for New Politics. :D

The army have said they have no reason to use force, and rumours that they may withdraw support for Mark.

any PM who issues an order and it is dis-obeyed by Army/Police is not longer a functioning PM - some posters don't like it but answer is elections

The answer will be a reform. New politics instead of an unstable parliament! :)

This "new politics" that you refer to- which is intended to replace 'unstable parliament'- is this some kind of throw back to the way that Thailand was governed prior to 1932 (albeit with some devolution of power from the top to the very-close-to-the-top.

I realize this question is off topic but you have referred to 'new politics' as an alternative to the current political system several times and hope that you will explain NP a bit.

New Politics and the New Politics Party ?

This is a throw back to "Total Elite Control".

Un-elected government, Un-Elected senate.

The "Elite" would choose by "hand picking" around 60% of the parliament.

They would hold "elections" for 40% but of course the elected ones cannot control. This allows the excuse of "democracy" whilst retaining total "hand picked" control of power.

Who would pick the Elite 60%, why of course, the Elite would pick them.

Who would vote for the Elite pickers...... why nobody of course, the Elite would pick the Elite who then discuss who to appoint to the 60% side.

These people are the most dangerous there are IMO, these are the Yellow shirts. Violently anti-farang when they want to be. Very very dangerous people and party and I would prefer Thaksin and Chavalit and Chuvit to ever getting near to seeing the NP or the NPP in power.

They are similar to someone who claims to be "pure Thai", its their country, its nobody elses, the horrible poor who are mixed in with Laos or Khymer blood should be peasants and never any more, farangs should serve them and be obedient to them or get out of the country.

New Politics ?

No - no no no no no.

Looks like more and more Reds are now coming to Bangkok, lots of Red convoys spotted heading to Bangkok.

People Power.

Hi.

People power? My @ss. "Money power" is the right word. If Thaksin's funds wouldn't flow all those people would stay at home and do honest people's jobs. Those people who are coming to Bangkok now sure know that they will be breaking the law the very moment they arrive?

Regards.....

Thanh

To the Powers That Be in Thailand:

Gentlemen,

You cant have democracy in a place like Baghdad yet coups in Bangkok.

That is the real legacy of Bush and Blair.

Wake up, Yellows.

And call those elections before you have blood on your hands.

I would guess the reference is the Elite that caused all this mess by making a coup happen when one did not need to happen.

Who since then have tried to put in place "fake democracy" but have had to resort to horrendous double standards to get things "aligned" with what they want.

Let the country return to true Democracy, let the people have the government they want and just get old gracefully with all your money for the Elite.

I do guess there are a lot of NPP Yellows posting on here, so I will be very interested in their responses are to what NPP is.

Bangkok Residents are not hostages, everyone is going about their daily life and even Central now have suggested "shoppers go to other location malls"..... well my oh my, I said that straight away and reported how the other malls were jam packed with shoppers. However "headlines" of hostage and anarchy and "unable to shop" make nice titles for Yellow newspapers, that is until people can grasp reality of what is actually happening.

Somehow all this "Elite" and 'real democracy' rap smacks of trolling to me. If it is, it should be more subtle.

As to the brainwashed crowd roaming around BKK wearing red shirts, they have been warned more than twice, as well as their leaders. Let me be the chauvinist pig who says: get the leaders, stop the flood of their propaganda and it all will settle down soon enough.
