And arguably Truman made a mistake. In principle Truman was within his bounds as Commander in Chief but he should have listened and today we would not be in fear of N Korea's nuclear program.

MacArthur was known for his arrogance, during the depression, MacArthur without authorization led a cavalry charge against peaceful war veterans who had gathered in Washington asking for relief.

MacArthur wasn't called an American Cesar for nothing, if Truman had not sacked him, MacArthur would have fought all the way to Beijing.

Truman was right to sack him.
