Miiyai46
The men in black are Newin Chidchob's militants, he has already created many problems in April 2009 with the blue shirt army and he has done the same now. They started everything last Saturday and hide immediately letting innocent people to die!!! He took a flight to London few hours after the clashes. WhingeingMoaners
There is a picture of the 'man in black' on the New York Times' website. The caption says "A security man for the antigovernment protesters in Bangkok, who wear red shirts, objected on Saturday to being photographed carrying a rifle." Here is the link: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/11/world/asia/11thai.html The two pictures attached may reveal who these men in black are. I take it the close up om the left is of one the guys in black. Really? I can't tell which one. Sadly the Thai text is far too tiny to try and read. Do you have a translation? saintofsilence
Rogue generals on Thaksin's payroll cry for final showdown By Sopon Onkgara The Nation Published on December 29, 2009 A NEW battle line has been drawn, with the sound of war drums beating, and the red shirts dancing around the bonfire. Their spirits are high, hoping that the showdown this time will be final and victorious. It does not matter to them whether there will be bloodshed or if the nation faces ruin. The red-shirt battle cry this time came from a rogue junior Army general, and a number of retired military officers on the payroll of fugitive Thaksin Shinawatra. They don't mind being branded traitors. The tidy sum from the man in exile is considered worthwhile. The other day, the rogue soldier, commonly known as "Seh Daeng" warned that the battle this time will be open, with advance warning when shots will be fired upon the enemy, or whoever dares to move against the joint push for power at the command of Thaksin. "Seh Daeng", Major General Khattiya Sawasdiphol, is a self-styled warrior, seeking the full blaze of publicity. He commands a group of militia being given political indoctrination as well as basic arms training. http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2009/12/29...on_30119360.php

zaza
I think the word you are looking for is 'mercenary'... ex cops, ex military (or off duty)... paid to create trouble...my opinion... Black Water's Branch in Thailand? I guess, that's why they are wearing black......
MiG16
given that no one on Thaivisa is able to provide the OP with a definite answer to the question raised (and I hope Im not being too presumptous in saying its unlikely anyone can for sure), and given the temporary policy pinned in general, I am now closing this thread. any further political discussions on current situation can be continued on the various existing threads. OP, I know you mentioned you tried to ask in one of the news thread and got no answer, and that may perhaps be due to what has been show on this thread? that no one knows for sure? sorry
