Thai Red-Shirts Kidnap CAT Telecom CEO

These thugs simply seem to believe they are above the law, acts like this make the perpetrators nothing more than terrorists.

No different from the yellow shirts, they closed the airport and caused untold damage to the country! The army and the police are a joke!

Hey enough of this yellow shirt crap already. I really doubt that anyone here supported or condones the take over of the airport.

That does not make what the reds are doing right. It was wrong then, it is wrong now !! It needs to be dealt with before it gets even worse.

A message needs to be sent that this type of action will not be tolerated by the reds, yellows or who ever tries to hold a city for their own benefit.

Sadly I have been following these blogs for several days and although I have seen several posts that were written with wisdom and good intentions, they have fallen on deaf ears and are followed up by completely ignorant comments and/or total lies.

I hope I am wrong but it now seems we will only have a couple of possible outcomes. 1) the government crumbles to the requests of the mob and sends the message that any group that is well funded can organize and control the government for their own interests. 2) The military moves in and disperses the mobs and restores order to the majority of citizens and holds elections as promised in 9 months.

If #1 is chosen then thailand will see blood on the streets year after year. If #2 is chosen Thailand will see blood on the streets now but will show that this type of lynch mob mentality will not be tolerated as would happen in any developed country.

Either way we will have sad days ahead. Peace

Do I hear democracy???

Do I hear social responsibility??

Do I hear developed country??

None of the above is applicable now or ever was in Thailand and never will be.

This is a feudal state with all the dressings.

Now the poor buggers are fed -up with beeing exploited.

SAY SO you morons, and dont push any of the SOB agendas in the forefront.eg,dissolving parliament, electrician now etc.

6 million baht for every tambon/village,next.

The last time I guess not even 20 % of the depts-loans were repaid, thank you Papa Taxin said the farmer,

my loyalty is forever with you, forgive my dept and my vote and the one man one vote of 15 million farmers will help you to become prime minister again.(maybe in the 4th estate)

should read: dissolving parliament, election(not electrician,no pun intended)

this is a note for Lumpini police chief Pol Lt Col Sarawut Jindakham

Dear Khun Sarawut ,

Believe ,Rajprasong is under your jurisdiction!Which is Lumpini police station! Correct ?

And Arisaman Pongruangrong( the so called red leader ) is stationed in Rajprasong rally site even

after the arrest warrant is issued against him !

Whose responisbility is to arrest this man ??

Now he kidnapps CAT Ceo !!

Wonderful ,Khun Sarawut !

And when a young man drove Porche hit red motorcycles parked infront of Holiday INN you are the one to run to Jatuporn

to inform not to worry that you had arrested that driver in the Porche !!

WoW -- what a responisble policeman !!!!!!!! Trying to stop red to run havoc !!

I really do not understand why there is a police station and why there are so many police are stationed in this

particular station-wasting our tax money !

We are Thai citizens -

I cant go to Police General hospital for few days now due to the rally --right infront of the hospital !I had to visit to

keep the appointment with the doctors and get the lifesaving medicines !!!

Whose responisbility is it to evacuate these Reds ?

There are numerous criminal gangs working under the asoke BTS with beggar gang on the same side of MTR -snatched purses many times

to elderly tourists -cycles are being stolen from the cycle stands -african criminals hang around Robinson dept store -stealing money from tourists !

all right under the CCTV !!

I really wonder who is responsible and whom do you work for ??

We are scared of your police station now !

Hope God help us !

Anyone know of hotline for complaints through emails against these officers ?

Better you negotiate with the Reds. They can help you more than the puppets.

As for E-mails, you might as well post on here for all the good it does.

You seem to be saying that the police are corrupt and let these gangs roam, so why not go with the reds? Maybe they are the ones to end the police grip on the city. Just a thought.

I am pleased that the signal for PTV is back - it gives an outlet for the anger - it was/is obviously a major bugbear on the side of the Reds that it has been cut off, so its very reconnection helps take one source of out of the equation - if it took someone being shown the way to the "on" switch", then so be it - let that individual take it up with those that told him to cut it off in the first place, after all CAT are hardly innocent bystanders in all this - don't underestimate the state of affairs out there, the country is on the brink and things happen at such times.

It is is precisely these double standards that, whether it be the airport and government house occupation, the non closure on the democrat loan, the allowing of one side's channel to broadcast and not the other, the non-prosecution of the anyone concerned with the yellow shirts demos, the list goes on....that have helped stoke the fire....and I am sure if the conflict were the other way round, there would be a whole litany of things too, before you accuse me of red-coloured specs.

I must say that I abhor Thaksin and his ways for but if he has actually uncorked a bottle, which now takes on its own form, then is that such a bad thing? Thailand cannot continue along its current path, lurching from one set of discontents to another and if it is now a question of difficult times, they have to happen sometime or the country gives up its experiment with democracy and returns to being an feudal army state. Look at the West and how many years it took them to work things out for themselves..it might then help put incidents such as this in context in the far far wider historical scheme of things.

Endless finger pointing on who fired first, "kidnaps" and so forth is what is to be expected in a propaganda war that sits alongside the conflict on the ground - the governments have after all just declared that it is terrorists that killed the reds on Saturday, that the army did not fire real bullets and so on, thereby absolving themselves of all blame - there are a whole manner of shenanigans going on here and one would hope that the forum here at Thaivisa would be one for constructive debate about those things. Instead, it frequently descends into rabid name calling, which I have to say as an observer of all the strands for nearly three days, mostly comes from the supporters of the incumbent government against the demonstrators.

What do I know though! :)

Another peaceful protest?????

Yes great for the red shirts,if the government hadnt switched off their tv station there wouldnt have been any trouble,I dont think for one moment the President of the USA likes Fox News, who are constantly critical of him and his democrats, to the state where they are really rude, but switch the station off!!!

The PM here has enough friends in the media to argue any things stated on the reds channel,no matter what was said on stage they didnt resort to violence, and anyway i personaly think that if the TV hadnt been shut down the reds would have gone home now for the festival.

Remind me please, Did the Red Shirt mob storm Parliament before or after their TV station went off the air?

How one possible kidnap an adult on the back of a motosai? Was he chained to handlebar?

Have you ever sat on the back of a motorcycle taxi? Try it, it beats sex, rock n roll, deportation and terrorism in 1 day :) Once you have survived a bike taxi tour of Bangkok, you have enough guts to take on the entire reds/yellows/rainbows/army by yourself. :D

Or to answer your post in a serious way... hundreds of motorcycles and people surrounding you. Do you dare get off the bike and die in a road accident or just let the situation proceed to the conclusion (probably better).

<deleted>?????????

What are they going to do with him???

They are going to force him to reinstall their broadband connection to their TV station and ultimately get their TV station back to full broadcast.

Gives me an idea - for those occasions when your Thai broadband goes slow or stops but you still have to pay for it (or the situation I am in now where 12call have charged me 300baht for 5 local phone calls plus 5 minutes online and refuse to deal with it) and no one will take your complaint seriously, round up some locals, pay them a few hundred baht and head down to the providers office to get the CEO to solve the problem.

:) good idea me like .....

There are probably more than two possible scenarios, but here goes:

1) The CEO of CAT is a red shirt, therefore willingly went along for a ride;

2) The CEO of CAT is a reasonably intelligent man, and given the antics of a crowd of the red shirts, determined that his life or that of his family would be forfeit if he did not go for that ride.

Other ideas (no matter how well thought out or downright silly) are welcome :)

YOur point 1 of possible scenarios ---- dam_n !so timely comment !

the soldiers who were kidnapped may be Reds too !!

I never saw anywhere in the world that armed soldiers were kidnapped by unarmed protestors !!

What an Army !!

What Paochinda is doing !?Working to protect a man who flew doctors fewdays ago to Dubai or working to protect his own men?

This is really shame !!

World watching and becoming a joke !

And the same army go to shop F-16 and submarines - and lost land war to Cambodia !! hahah

Thaksin called in professional illegal private army and used the advice he gathered in Montenegro.

The government orders this CEO - Jirayuth - to close down the PTV station.

He doesn't like the idea, but he does it.

He then contacts someone high in Red-Shirt hierarchy and says "They made me do it" hoping that, if these people come to power, they won't put hime among the hundreds that will be strung up on lamp-posts.

Arisman says - "I need the PTV channel back. Do it." "Can't. I'll be arrested" says Jirayuth.

"I'll fix it" says Arisman. And rides round to CAT HQ and takes the man away.

He (Jirayuth) has now done what Abhissit wants, got in Arisman's good books and can (maybe) sleep at night.

Job done.

My Doc told me stay away from stress. He is under impression that since I am in land of smiles, the easy going Thailand, I will recover sooner. Hey DOC, you ain't reading the local Thai news.

I above quote, well written, well said. I fully agree. However, once again, as the posting person has mentioned, it will go to deaf years. No one will notice a worth opinion. Interesting to see that TV readers use these forums to spill out their own frustrations of current happening in this country. We may disagree, but let us do it in civil way. :)

Thank you for a nice comment.

Yet another display of red intimidation, violence and "democratic values".

Let us all pray for Thailand and there people that they not going to rule this country.

It is okay ... I am confident if the reds win the next elections

The yellow / blue / black / green or some color will form and

protest and parade then turn the street of Bangkok into the

wild west demanding the government dissolve parliament.

The colored shirt people will then declare war, invade gov't

buildings, kidnap various CEO .........

Deja vu all over again

Thought all the lunatics were out in the streets until I started reading this thread.......... :D

The answer is now clear. Select a group of ex-pats from Thaivisa to mediate a settlement. Thai's can't handle conflict it takes farangs to sort things out... :)

See how well we get along.

I think it was sometime after their elected and genuinely popular government was removed by soldiers.

Perhaps the moto drivers had smoked some yaba and thought they were yellow shirts, able to do what they want with impunity.

Sigh... around and around it goes, on a tilted playing field. Never mind.

What are they going to do with him???

no problem: he get a free ride: he goes for inspecting and for reconnecting the broadband. In order to be sure it will correctly done, Arisaman will pay the motorcycle for him....

and now you are condoning kidnapping (at least you certainly appear to be condoning it!) There goes one of the few moderate voices for the Reds that I have seen on here. It is now impossible not to lump you in with the rest that condone this type of violence. (Yes kidnapping is violence.)

Arisman and the reds have added kidnapping clearly to the list of crimes the red leadership is guilty of now. (since some people have chosen to look at holding the Thai soldiers as kidnapping!)

JD that was french sarcasm...

The army is better off controlling the country until all the coruption is stopped at all levels of politics and law.

What about corruption in the Army?

I don't sat that there is, but, as with most countries in this region, the Army is also involved in business, from banking to telecomms to agriculture/forestry.

Mixing apples with oranges in this way has never worked well. Entrepreneurs are usually loners, whereas Army commanders are team players. Will there be another Burma (Myanmar) born out of this mess?

You can pick one:

a) "Arisman is a fake Red, a double agent, sent by the Abhisit government/General Prem to destabilize our glorious movement."

:) "Democracy, yes, yes, we want democracy. We poor people have to resort to kidnapping to make our point heard. Anything is justifiable at time when our brethens in the countryside have nothing to eat but dirt.. Have you ever tried Dirt Foo Young? "

c) "Arisman is so hot-headed, you know. Don't mind the young lad. He hasn't crashed an international confererence in a year so obviously he's pretty uptight. Abhisit should arrange for another international conference so Arisman will be appeased."

d) "It's somebody that looks like Arisman claiming to be Arisman. Don't you dare defame our noble cause."
