Thaiquila
Somehow or the other, I have a popup blocker installed that I don't know about. I don't know what the program is or remember ever installing it. Now when I want to disable the blocker or specify sites to allow popups, I don't know where to go. Any ideas on finding this mytery blocker? I know there is a blocker because I see the message "A popup has been blocked" when there is one blocked. Recent versions of Internet Explorer have a built in popup blocker, maybe that is what you are seeing. IIRC the 'popup blocked' message has a 'click here to allow popups' button. BUT, why on earth do you want to see those annoying ads, I have several lines of defence against these users of MY bandwidth and still some get through Edited June 2, 2005 by Crossy
paulfr
Crossy is probably right but you might just try this. Open up Task Manager (CTRL+ALT+DEL) Check the list of processes. You may be able to identify it by its name, maybe not. It is worth a try. But again it is likely the IE internal if you are up to date with Windows updates. Thaiquila
You need popups for some sites and some chat features, for example. I will look into the IE situation, good tips. Update, tried as above by no dice. OK, for the benefit of others, I found my answer here: http://de.usa.edu/HowTo/How2PopupBlockers.html Turns out I had a popup blocker on because I have a Yahoo toolbar. Easy to turn off. Duh, I feel stupid, but happy. Thanks. Edited June 2, 2005 by Thaiquila
waldwolf
If your running Windows XP and have update it to Service Pack 2 (SP2) then a "PopUp Blocker" was installed in IE and automatically turned on. You can turn-off the blocker or adjust its settings in the Tools window of IE. More info here. cheers
