Why Do People Post When They've Nothing New To Say?

Featured Replies

Just reading through some of the news clippings threads, there's so many posts where people have quoted previous posters but then add nothing of their own. Not even a comment on the posts they quote! What is the point?

?? :)

It's all about post counts. :)

It's all about post counts. :D

that's one more for you,and one more for me. :)

It's the less practiced people who 'think' they've added something........

That'll be right guesthouse? :)

We try to remove them when found but with the flurry of political posts they're sometimes missed. You can use the Report function to let us know and we will clear it out. I've removed several today already.

BTW - many are from new members that don't quite have the hang of using a forum.

Post count, people seem to think the more you post the more authority you show on Thailand or on subject matter, even by posting nothing post count still goes up. For me it's the quality, that's why I'm only on 60 :):D

...wouldn't say that was a quality post.

It's quite ok to post even it might look for someone not relevant to the original OP, apart from the obvious, unimaginative so called trolls. Because the Internet shall be very lively, full with fresh ideas, creative and productive.

An old friend of mine once said (and I try to translate his original quote from French) :

Happy is he who has nothing to say and yet remains silent.

(Heureux celui qui n'a rien a dire et pourtant se tait.)

And now I shut up :)

Post count, but some people do seem to be on 24*7. I suppose for some people its their main hobby and why not.

That

I assumed they were mostly just posting errors/accidents.

Accurate assumption Jingthing based on what I've seen.

There is some validity for that. You need to have a certain number of posts before you are allowed into Bedlam where all the fun is located.

Once you've been proven to be a valid contributer to the forum there are other benefits. The moderators all receive a salary, the contributers recieve a Christmas bonus and the restaurant advertisers provide free meals for the regulars. George, at Gecko books gives private interviews for those he chooses worthy. It's just one big happy family. :):D:D

rack em up baby!!

Sometimes there are double posts from computer hangups; sometimes misunderstanding how to use the forum as already stated. Sometimes people change their minds about what they want to say but can't completely delete the message.
