Changian
Looking for a nice hotel in Chiang Rai for a couple of nights in August. There are a few very fancy 4-5* resorts and also other older more run down 2* places. Plus various guesthouses. But for something that's convenient, comfortable, clean and not way out in the sticks there doesnt seem to be many options. Phowadol Resort seems to be OK. Any other recommendations for hotel / nice guesthouse in the 1,500 - 2,000 Baht/night?

villagefarang
You might check out some of the older threads in the Chiang Rai forum. This question has been asked often and answered to a point you may not get too much help with a new thread but who knows, people may feel talkative on the day. Paul123456
Hi - I am a part owner in Mirror Art Guest House (http://mirrorartgroup.org/guesthouse/index.php). It is clean, comfortable, convenient and not out in the sticks but only 350 Baht per night. Have a look at the website if you want. For very comfortable and right in town and may be closer to your price objective - maybe look up Starbright Hotel. (http://www.starbrighthotel.com/) There are quite a few options in Chiang Rai - so don't give up.
rfukata
check the Chiang Saeng river basin area (the golden triangle). there are a few hotels nestled overlooking the triangle area with a view of Burma & Lao. For additional entertainment, you can experience a ride on the river boat or cross over into Burma's Casino hotel. You'll need to clear Chiang Saeng river Immigration for the Casino visit. Jahil
I would suggest you The MANTRINI hotel (www.mantrini.com ) It is just opposite Big C. I just spent 2 weeks there for the third time and price/quality wise I find it great. I believe that they have a 2 night package (breakfeast and one dinner included) for less than 4.000 baths.
