I'm looking for a GPS that will be compatable here in LOS. Also want fairly accurate altimeter on it. any advise for a newbie to gps's??? Just a simple unit....not too many 'bells and whistles'.

As there are many options with regard to GPS with bells and whistles it is best to have a look at Eagle GPS in Phanthip Plaza 2nd floor in Chiangmai as they have many different units in stock and can show you what the different unit do and don't and don't do.

The altimeter is a standard function of a GPS this is from the top of Doi Internon. The GPS in my car will also show altitude if you go to the screen with the latitude and longitude displayed.
