What A Shame... What Is Happening In Thailand Now

Featured Replies

I just wanted to say I feel sad what is happening in Thailand at the moment.

Such a wonderful culture, and people... being stirred up by all this revolutionary Thinking.

I for one love Thailand... and hate to think that it could end up like Singapore with someone like Thaksin at the helm. They have so many things going for them, and life here is so much nicer than life in the west in so many ways.

I just read a chapter of a book I found online http://www.gutenberg.org/files/27404/27404-8.txt scroll down (search) to where to see referenced to Rama VI

I hope Thailand can find a way to preserve it's culture, and monarchy and traditions at the same time able to improve the lives of the poorest in the country. These things take time, and patience and basically just think its a shame all this violence...

Listening to the Thai media, and even the farangs in this forum they are making seem like a football match.. but so much more is at stake here. Do people not realise that if the reds have their way the culture of Thailand is going to change significantly in the long run. I came here because I love it, yes it has faults but do we really want Thailand to end up like Singapore... or Perth.

Just my 2 cents worth.
