I live in Thailand

I want to find the best, cheapest and safest Online Broker in Singapore!

I have already contact to Saxobank, but they want me to start up with a minimum of 100.000,- SingDollars -

but could trade all around the Stockexchanges in the World

is there not a better Option for me in Singapore, as I do want to start with a smaller Amount as that?

Thaks for any Advice, Help or Suggestion

Cheers

There are UK based CFD brokers in Singapore - CMC and IG spring to mind. These will allow you to open an account for less, but you dont actually trade the underlying shares. Worth looking into perhaps?

DBS-Vickers & OCBC both do it, I use DBS as you can trade OTC and Pink sheets.

Myself and alot of people I know also use Philips Securities, which covers all the main SE Asia markets plus US and UK

The rates are all about the same last time I checked

How did you manage to open a Singapore bank account?

When I visited Singapore in 2008 only Singapore citizens or residents (must show proof)

could open acounts. Has this changed or are trading accounts different?

I had a look at Phillips Securities, apparently just a passport is enough to open an account.

That is great news.

Would you share how you opened your account? Online, thru the mail, or in a branch?

>To open an account, you will need to bring along the following items:

>1. Your Singapore Identity Card (NRIC) or your Permanent Resident Card. If you do not belong to either of >the two categories, you will need to bring along your valid passport as documentary proof.

i use internaxx, luxemburg, where you can trade on 15 different exchanges and associated curriencies.

Was thinking about getting into SKD just as a hedge against the decline of the major currencies but need to do some research, At the moment no idea what goes on there !!
