Ed Visa, Course Finishes In One Months, Extend Another 90 Days?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am new to the board and cant find an answer to this anywhere.

I got an ED visa and on my last extension they put 2 stamps, one said I should report again on 6th of May and another one said I can extend until 31st of May(my course finishes then). Does that mean I can go there anytime before 31st of May and get another 90 days? Is it always 90 days extension or may they only give me one month? The visa is for university, not a language course.

Thanks for your help:)

Your post is confusing. One would have to see the two stamps you are talking about to know what your situation is.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Since you are doing a university study you probably have to do a 90 day report on the 6th and are permitted to stay 31st of May.

For an extension of 90 days you would need documents from your university, confirming you will be studying there. As your course finishes, that will not be the case.

It might be best to go to Vientianne Laos and get a tourist visa there, maybe even a double entry.

I got a 1 year multiple entry ED visa... so no need for another one. It says I can apply for an extension until May 31st (=end of my course). So If I go there when my current extension expires (on the May 6th) I would like to know if they gonna give me 90 days again. I think yes, cause with a 1 year visa you can come back one day before the year is over and still get an extra 3 months. I think they same would be true for extensions 90 days extra, that is, you can extent right before course end and still get 90 days. So far I have used 6 months of my visa.

Please help:)

Has anyone ever gotten an extension of less than 90 days while holding a 1 year visa? Or is there only 90 day intervals?

With the usual documents from the university you can apply at your local immigration office for an extension of stay any time during the last 30 days of your current permission to stay.

Alternatively, with a “1 year visa”, ie a non-immigrant visa you received from a Thai consulate, valid for an unlimited number of entry for one year from the visa’s date of issue, you can make a border run not later than one day before the “enter before” date stamped on the visa and on your arrival in Thailand you will again receive permission to stay for 90 days.

Yes I get that, but I don't wanna do a border run. My question is is they will give me a 90 day extension or less here in Bangkok.

So will they give me 90 days there? Or only an extension until the end of the course?
