Sorry for my dumbass newbie question.....

I've recently got a 2MB DSL connection installed - it works fine (I think).

However, when I click to see the Local Area Connection Speed at the bottom right on the screen,

this only shows 100.0 Mbps.

I'd rather expected it to show 200.0 Mbps and I'm wondering if I've been given the incorrect package. Mind you, there may be another reason for it showing 100 Mbps - I'm not tech minded.

Is there any way to further check that I've got the correct package - before I call TOT?

Thanks for any help....

Err - sorry if posted this in the wrong place... :)

You have been given the correct package.

What you got is a 2Mbps connection for the outside world (internet).

If, as you say, you actually got a 2MB (MegaByte) connection, this would be 16Mbps connection to the outside world.

Your router allows for a maximum speed on the Local Area Network (LAN) connection of 100Mbps.

This speed is only for PCs linked to your LAN.

Thanks for yr reply!

If I understand correctly, then what I get from the router to my pc is max 100Mbs - and what goes on from the router to/from the outside (cyber) world can happen at up to 200Mbs - is that correct?

Sounds weird, but yr'e probably dead right!

Thanks

No, to the outside world you only get 2Mbps!

I doubt they will ever be able to provide 200Mbps DSL here in Thailand.

Oh, sure - the fine print DEFINITELY says just that! Actually, they were pretty decent and made sure to point that fact out to us, saying we'd get nowhere near 2MB - but fast is fast and whether you're getting 1.1 or 1.9, you ain't going to notice that much difference.

Shucks, I'm not complaining about the speeds - just trying to ascertain whether I got what I asked for, that's all

Cheers
