Dear all brother and sister:

I know this might be not so proper to post in here but i just want to take this opportunity to urge those who are kindhearted to donate to a temple name "Wat Sungai Siput" that located in Pendang, Kedah, Malaysia. The host of this temple is named "Arjan Tia" and he is from Thailand. For more info please visit the blog at archantia[dot]info

I have two initial questions:

1. First, and I have seen them before -- what are the round cannonball-like objects.

2. Second, there are literally thousands of temples in Thailand, why is this particular temple worthy of asking for a donation?

Thanks

"Wat Sungai Siput is highly reputed with its sakyant, takrut, amulet, bad disease healing, fortune enhancing and etc"

"Sakyant is not the teachings of Buddha, its just the beliefs of Thai and its like Tao in Chinese where you can see we pray to spirits and we have possession too. They have been mixed thousand years ago because of cultures cross and its not something bad when you can learn to be good."

"There has been a lot of possession activity during the chanting event, all those spirits seems like cant wait for their turn to show respect to Archan Tia, that was absolutely amazing and stunning. The following spirits/gods were possessed during the Wai Kru:

* Hanuman the 9th

* Hanuman the 5th

* Hanuman the 3th

* Gekco

* Lersi

* Guan Ying"

Sounds more like a voodoo site to me...

Dear Phetaroi:

Thanks for your kind attention and reply on my thread it is greatly appreciated because your questions will answers the doubt of many people else. I have asked myself too before do the posting, will Thai people even look at such small temple that located in Malaysia so far away from mainland Thailand while there are so many temples in Thailand that also need for donation, i then convince myself with the reason of "Buddhism". Because there is no boundary for buddhism and further more the master Arjan Tia is from Petchaboon, Thailand, he came here 10 years ago for the purpose of collect donation for the temple in his hometown Petchaboon and was't intended to build a temple here, but after he helped many local peoples here from bad disease they donate a land and ask him to stay here because we all love and respect him so very much and we hope to learn something and bless by him.

You see, the point is, his love is no boundary and he struggle hard and work out very hard, i mean really really hard to establish a temple in here, isn't that a proud of Thailand and Thai peoples too to see own countryman has done something so extraordinary in other country. Majority of committee here are Chinese people, we too got thousand of Chinese god and temple that we can pray, learn and worship but we also pay high respect to this Thai temple and particularly to the Arjan himself. So i think Thai people should pay concern on his efforts, maybe not in term of money, maybe just regards, encouragement from his own countryman to make him feel warm.

In reply to camerata, excuse for the list of spirits/gods, Arjan Tia himself told me not to write up the list of spirits / possession because other people might think its somekind of voodoo like you did and so its not something so purely in buddhism but i like to think it as something special, its the culture of Thai and for many religion else you will see possession, so it doesnt mean "possession" = "voodoo" = "something very low", this is the special feature i like to think of that. Regardless its size and how it "appear" to be, most importantly we learned something good from this temple, thats something very special, it is just like you sending someone who doesnt like read to University of Harvard he/she too will come out with nothing but if you send him/her to some local school that match his/her taste maybe he/she could learn something useful :) It is just an assumption excuse me if it not so correct.

About the black canon ball, they will be install on the new building when its done, im sure you have got explanation from other thread of what it is.

Thank you very much for all the replies if there are any questions else please do not hesitate to post reply in here, i shall have all of them answered one by one. Lastly please excuse my English i have tried my best to use it on my writings :D

Thanks Sabaijai for the info about the "cannon balls". I had never seen them before a recent visit to Wat Pathumwanaram. The Thai friend I was with was also puzzled.
