Dvd Subtitles

Featured Replies

I'm hoping that someone has done this before and can lend some assistance. I'm 'backing up' some DVDs and want to slip a thai subtitle into the DVD where there was not one from the beginning. Essentially I'm reauthoring a region 1 DVD to include a thai subtitle track. The problem is I'm having problems finding a source on the internet to download thai subtitles.

I've tried traditional subtitle sources but Thai appears to be the only language they don't carry. They even have Vietnamese. I've tried:

www.divxsubtitles.net

www.divxsubs.com

www.subtitles.ro

etc., etc....

I also found a website www.thaisubtitles.com that had some subtitles but it appears to be a translation project rather than just ripping them from a region 3 DVD.

If anyone's tried to 'roll their own' before and found a source for thai subtitles please reply. thanks.

I have pretty much the same experience as you looking for Thai subs. University students in the West are behind most localized subtitles, not professional translators. This is clearly reflected in the results too. Funny at best.

Speaking with some experience, but partially just speculating:

Translating and synchronizing a subtitle track to a movie is very long and hard work, and the Thais who can perform such work make sure they get paid for it, or are engaged in other occupations.

I'm having difficulty myself but have come across one site ww.thaisubtitle.com/

I saw some of them on opensubtitles.org ... not a lot though.

I was looking for the same thing myself last night.

Its amazing how many of us have bought DVD's in our home countries and are now looking to add Thai subtitles for the benefit of our Thai family's :o

Cheers
