Thai Court: More Projects In Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate Allowed To Resume

6 more projects in Map Ta Phut industrial estate allowed to resume

BANGKOK (TNA) -- Thailand's Central Administrative Court on Tuesday instructed state agencies concerned to allow two private companies to proceed with the construction and machinery testing by six projects in the Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate to prevent possible damage following the court’s order suspending the operation of 64 projects in September last year.

The ministries of industry, natural resources and environment, and other ministries concerned were ordered to permit six projects owned by PTT Asahi Chemical and Thai Ethanolamines proceed with facilities construction and machinery testing.

The court said its staff conducted a field inspection of the two companies' six projects and found that resuming the projects would not pollute surrounding communities.

Unless the projects are allowed to go ahead with the implementation as pleaded, both companies would sustain huge damages.

The six projects are part of 64 investment projects ordered to halt by the Central Administrative Court on September 29 last year.

Subsequently, nine projects were allowed to resume construction of plants as requested, meaning that the number of suspended projects ordered by the court has dropped to 49. (TNA)
