didn't see thaksin gov assasinating PAD leaders did we?

First, how can you be positively sure Seh Daeng was assasinated by the government ?

Even though it's highly probable, there are other possibilities as well. But maybe you know something no one else knows ??

Secondly, in what way can Seh Daeng be compared to any other protest leader - be it from PAD or the moderate fractions of UDD ?

He was openly running an armed militia. He was calling for more violence even AGAINST the UDD leaders wishes.

He has been behind the black 'ronin' soldiers and they haven't been exactly peaceful, have they ?

In any western coountry he would have been shot or jailed a long time ago.

So, we don't see gov assasinate even idiots like Dr Weng, do we ? Answer: no.

If you don't know the difference between a Mango ( perhaps sour or rotten ) and a Rat ( aggresive and infectious ) , you'd better educate yourself.

If you are British it may be time to register here, just in case there is a free flight home soon

British nationals are encouraged to register with our LOCATE service.

http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travel-and-living...ng-safe/Locate/

But make sure u remeber the pasword!!

I registered on 'Locate' several years ago, when working in Saudi and being a warden. (unofficial consulate enger)

A few weeks ago I needed to change one item, but could not get in, because I could not remember the password.

Tried re-registering, but refused entry because my name was already on the data-base.

So I'm registered, but with wrong info. ontacted FCO, but they couldn't do anything because of data protection acts.

I think I'll change my name. And nationality!

The mind boogling fact is that until today he even was not busted from the army! Only Thailand....where this can happen.

You know, I don't think I've ever been under a state of emergency before. How thrilling it is...

The Khon Kaen reds do seem to be quite vicious though, so who knows, maybe the police will be busy over the next while.

I was in Iran during the 1979 revolution.

A couple of years later I was in Saudi during the Grand Mosque occupation.

Later again I was in Libya (Benghazi) during Reagan's terror bombing

Lots of dead bodies on all three affairs.

Lots of times I'd have a rifle or automatic weapon shoved in my face. Not exciting. Not fun. Not anything I'd like anyone to endure.

These affairs lasted for several weeks on each occasion, and I lost several (Western) employees at each of these. (Quitting, not killed)

Likewise Iran. A pretty tortuous and scary journey across the country to exit. Thrilling ? I think not.

I think there are a number of (ex)military- or police-specialists in this forum, so a question to them: It was reported that the hospital operated on Seh Daeng this morning and removed a bullet. If he was shot by a sniper, assuming from some distance, wouldn't the high-speed bullet have passed through his head and made a sizable exit.wound instead ? Does the fact that he had a bullet in the head imply a shot from a less-powerful weapon, perhaps closer than your typical sniper would use ?

when I was in the army I was told that a standard 7.62 round would go right through a person or several. a hollow tip or mushroom bullet will leave a big hole on the other side but a small entry hole.

everything fine here in pattaya why the hel_l do we need it :)

Local News Pattaya, part of Chonburi Province is now under a State of Emergency which is now being enforced in Provinces surrounding Bangkok to ensure that local branches of Red Shirt Protesters are prevented from travelling to Bangkok which now resembles a war zone in certain areas. Here in Pattaya life goes on and on Friday Afternoon we toured Pattaya to see the effects of the continuing problems in Bangkok. There is no doubt that Pattaya will suffer and tourism will be affected but Tourists are still out-and-about and spending money. The ones we spoke with are concerned about the Bangkok clashes but are not concerned about their safety while they stay here in Pattaya. A number of foreign business owners we have spoken with over the last 24 hours believe the forthcoming low season months will be “make-or-break” for many businesses but they are confident that Thailand can re-emerge as a favorite Tourist Destination. We are closely monitoring local movements and activities undertaken by the Red Shirts and pro-government groups and will update you as the situation here in Pattaya changes.

didn't see thaksin gov assasinating PAD leaders did we? more of double standard for PAD lovers.

You must be both Deaf, DUMB and Blind to believe Thaskin never killed anybody....The actual number is in the thousands....there are numerous threads that talk and document some of this.

He was not discriminatory in his killings, it went from his critics to the south, to attorneys, and the new media that opposed and tried to expose his corruption.

Just 18 months ago a military officer that blew the whistle, was blown up in his car.

http://www.matichon.co.th/ reporting red shirt unrest in Chiang Rai (occupying the Bangkok Bank in the town centre)? Does anyone have any further info?

Hi - I drove through Chiang Rai town yesterday afternoon and last night, although not past Bangkok Bank. Anyway I saw no Red Shirts and no sign of any tension or anything unusual.

So???

Maybe I'll go have a look at Bangkok Bank today, but I tend to doubt there is much going on here so far.

First, State of Emergency which then clears the way for Martial Law.

Just like during the times of Uncle Thaksin's war on drugs, this will give the government and armed forces full authority to then go out and 'take out' all opposition in all provinces. Great excuse to get each and every individual that causes trouble to the administration. You think?

So what? The government tried to negotiate and were rebuffed. They have little choice but to crack down on the opposition.

Not so much a case of removing or stiffling the opposition,

but of shutting down the VIOLENT factions aligned with opposition.

A big difference between a violent group and a politicially opposing group.

That said the medusa like ties between TRT/PPP/PTP and UDD/DAAD, Redshirts,

will make determining who is who a minefield.

How does one reach into a bag of snakes

and find just the biters, by feel alone?

This gov finished now my fend. sure finished with 40 dead.

Now people have only option after elite put abhisit in power. They do it now, they fight and have more to come.

CNN reported watched some police shooting at Army yesterday!!! Few thousand at rajprasong, rest of reds now operating as guerillas. this how this problems starts when drive protest underground.

Little chance they had to get army to save their skins and skins of elite backers.
