Sadly BOTH sides ARE armed to the teeth now. did you know that 500 Israeli-made Tavor Tar-21 assault rifles seized by the protesters, only 200 were returned to the Army. Some M16s, had returned. The protesters also have M67 grenades, M79 grenade launchers and rocket-propelled grenade launchers and anti-aircraft guns taken from tanks. They also seized many assault rifles from the military during the clashes with security forces on April 10 at Khok Wua intersection, sources said.

A few weeks back I went to redland and saw plenty of these black-shirted guards with guns, mostly small hand guns but one or two with larger weapons. Al-jazeera news caught redshirts with guns on film, plenty of video clips on youtube showing reds with "war weapons" and why the "heavy fighting" at Lumphini and Din Daeng if the protestors are only armed with fireworks and bamboo?

Anyone who still believes these people are not armed is a moron.

I just hope the army can protect the majority of people in Thailand who don't want an armed mob of anarchists setting up their checkpoints, summarily executing people and running the country.

Anyone who still believes these people are not armed is a moron.

I don't know what is worse... them, or those who do believe, but make hollow excuses for them.

It's such a farce that the army isn't allowed to fire upon "peaceful" protesters. Hardly a fair fight, but we all know that the reds aren't armed... :)

This video can't possibly be authentic, I'm sure it was doctored (say the reds, not me!)... :D

How much more of this red b.s. are the people of Bangkok supposed to tolerate?

I am shocked. No one has said that this was a fake red yet. Surely this couldn't have been a real red actually protesting unpeacefully? Does he even want democracy?

Dressed in black, red heavy's !!! :)

Thats in the mornings.

My point is that most of the armed anti gov 'red' guys l have seen on video are the guys dressed in black. AK 47's, grenade launchers etc. OK. Understand.

OK understand. :D

Is it possible that for some protestors a bullet through the head of the leader is seen as an 'act of war' - where as the government cannot be seen to be declaring 'war' on their own people, perhaps some of the red faction are not held by the same public constraints?

Just another scenario over looked by the government?

I find non-thai media the most unbiased in reporting what goes on out here. This is a good example of who's doing what !
