HotelManager
MOTORCYCLE TAXIS INFLATING PRICES I am disgusted at the motorcycle taxis inflating their prices up to 300% over the normal fare, taking advantage of the few Bangkokians still going to work. My employees make 500 Baht a day and spent over 300 bath on motorcycle taxis. Motorcycles taxis should be deeply ashamed of ripping off their fellow Thais. They are cheating their own and I hope someone will catch up with them. Baaaaah on them! Edited May 15, 2010 by HotelManager
LuckyLew
Why don't you pay your employees more to make up their shortfall?
rak sa_ngop
Maybe they have to make up for the 'lost time' due to the troubles. This Ratchathewi motorbike rider is losing valuable working time by having to help 'makeover' an army water cannon truck, so needs nice Thais to help him out! givenall
Tell them to take taxi, trafic is very light these days
Pib
Traffic is lighter in certain Bangkok areas, but in most Bangkok areas it's very heavy due to detoured traffic! Motorcycles do well in heavy traffic while taxi's set stuck in heavy traffic as motorcycles cruise past them. The only way to get to some places right now is via motorcycle or your feet. Plus, a lot of bus and taxi companies/operators don't want to risk damage to their buses/taxis by getting stuck in protest areas; it's much easier for motorcycles to escape a bad situation. boRED
Why not let the staff stay for free in one of your hotel rooms ? just a thought, would also keep them safe
oldmajor
I have found that Motorbike taxis have been raising their prices at an alarming rate over the last couple of years. It is cheaper for me to take taxis. All depends on how fast you need to get through traffic sometimes. I think they are getting greedy in BKK
kangaloowest
Why don't you pay your employees more to make up their shortfall? Perhaps it is not good Economics for the business Einstein, The heart says yes but the pocket says NO!!!
thailandbluegrass
To the OP; And what would you do if YOU had to drive people through a smoke infested war zone in fear of being killed? Lower your fares? Also I agree, why not let the workers stay free in your Hotel? Im sure you have many empty rooms.
LuckyLew
Why don't you pay your employees more to make up their shortfall? Perhaps it is not good Economics for the business Einstein, The heart says yes but the pocket says NO!!! So people should go to work when they spend 60% of the daily income on transportation? Not worth going is it ... no employees means no hotel .... Einstein Short term loss for owner to make his employees happy seems a no brainer to me
slapout
The excess charge will give the employees a perspective of what many of the tourists are complaining about in the terms of rip off.

ronz28
Its hazardous duty pay. They are risking their lives to drive you somewhere when people are taking pot shots for violators of their turf.
neverdie
Best advice would be to car pool or take taxis and car pool. Of course if you are talking about riding thru the Bangkok CBD at the moment, I would say its only fair to inflate prices
My Friend Same
I wont take those moto taxis even if free. Those drunkards will risk your life everytime. I am terrified of them and rode them 6 times in 11 years. I see the quantities of alchohol they drink in btw tricks. scary indeed
