An unidentified injured journalist is helped by fellow newsmen after a grenade launcher was fired by anti-government protesters during an operation to crackdown on the Red Shirt movement Wednesday, May 19, 2010, in Bangkok, Thailand.

I hope Amnesty withdraw the pathetic statements they made earlier. I hope both these men recover quickly. Peaceful demonstrations pfft :)

Given the timing of this news being published, I don't believe this journalist (who appears to be a foreigner) is the same Italian journalist that was killed earlier today.

haven't I always said Thaksin is a NERO? Years ago, when I observed this cretin on a psychological aspect it was pretty clear that he's character problems, big ones.

Agree 101%, this guy has shown mental instability under pressure since 2006 at least.

Amoral and disconnected from all but his desires and motivations. Sick, sick, sick.

A new Nero for the internet age for sure.

The more radical red factions have openly stated that it may be needed for the entire country to be destroyed so they can start over with their new wonderful system, whatever that is (probably like the Khmer rouge is my guess).

MCOT: 5 red-shirt leaders brought to undisclosed location; Jatuporn uses MP status to provide immunity from charges

I hope there are a lot of Thai people whose lives have been ruined by this scum bag that have seen this scene from Lethal Weapon 2.

Enough said!

If he is allowed to use his MP immunity ... I certainly hope they don't take him to a location on a 10th floor somewhere as I could see him jumping out a window out of shear guilt.

Great stuff from Korn on CNN!

He really explained to the fools that this not a simplistic poor v rich fight.

Mentioned free eduction and income gurantees for farmers.

Impact on GDP from all this is about 0.5% largely due to impact on tourism.

Sadly, he used the "word" NORMALCY. I guess it must correct then.............

Hum, Korn worth 10s of millions(US)and Ahbisits right-hand man, after crushing the reds, says it's not about rich vs poor. OK must be true.

He said it was not a SIMPLISTIC poor v rich fight.

I think that's correct.

Do you object to someone being wealthy? I know of no claims that his wealth was obtained fraudulently.

He also happens to be extremely well educated and that, in my view, IS a key issue.

No objection to the wealthy people, friend. Like them in fact.

Just calling him on the shiet coming out of his mouth. He's rich, Ahbist is rich, Anapong is rich and Anapong's #2 will soon be rich when he takes over the army in November. 99.9% of the reds are dirt poor.

If it's not about rich vs poor, what's it about? Rule of law? Give me a break! The coup in 2006 put an end to that.

We'll my angry corresponent, that is EXACTLY the point. No one, to date, has been able to say what the red movement actually wants. Maybe you could oblige and tell us what policies need to be implemented to sooth the troubled poor of the N and NE.

Just what is it that these poor fools were prepared to die for?

And please don't say they just want an election........

Actually Nero was the Emperor of Rome who played while it burned. Ahbist is the current ruler of Bangkok, and so would more match Nero at this moment, right?

If a group did this in the west or Singapore, Japan, yes even China, the international press would be calling them TERRORISTS. Why the reluctance of the international press to do so with these Thai reds?

Guess that once the curfew starts, army will have shoot to kill orders and heavier weapons as well to finish them off - yes, execute them that is what I mean - in case some reds here get upset - they deserve to die

They wanted an election very quickly and before the reorg of the army and new budget.

TAN: INN: Dindaeng red-shirt protesters announce independence from main gathering and said it will hunt down members of the press

BBC & CNN are you getting this? Amnesty International, what have you got to say now?

Exactly

Any speculation as to why they want to hunt down members of the press?

One would assume it is because they have begun to describe a truer picture of what is going on in Bangkok and what the true motivations of some of the principals are.

I wouldn't go that far unless they are firing weapons. Even better to arrest and prosecute these low elements.

OK, I know I shouldn't do this, but here goes. I told you so! Many of us knew what these reds were about even BEFORE they arrived in Bangkok this time. Anyone with even basic common sense knew this just observing Black Songkran. Others, do you FINALLY get it?

Guilt? You have to be kidding. This guy has no sense of guilt. He spewed lies and hatred for weeks from the red stage. He and his other stooges are responisble for numerous deaths and countless financial sufferings of the people in Bagkok. Not to mention now the poor sheep at the rally will not get their promised stipend. I don't think these people will be voting for anyone associated with these killers.

Thaksin - enjoying watching his paid-for terrorists burn the city? He is not Thai - he will become an international pariah from this affair - just wait.

That's why sadly he will keep fighting until the end and also the reason he has lawyered up with the esteemed firm, Amsterdam & Shyster.

To me they have seemed like the Khmer Rouge for ages.

The declaration of a peasant campaign against the elite.

The uniform of their guards.

The attitude of their guards.

There use of weaponry.

Their antagonistic stance of their military wing.

Their brainwashing techniques.

Their intimidation or assault of those who disagree with them.

Roadblocks and searching of people.

Last week's attack and shooting of the soldier after dragging him out of a truck.

Now with attacks on the free press, freedom of speech is clearly not allowed.

I hope the army can stop this before we are subjected to people being rounded up and shot for not supporting reds.

the surrender of the cowardly porcine Red "leaders" (aka ... The hero 'martyrs') - one of them even had the audacity to wear a shirt emblazoned with Gandhi's image :)!

that would be Jatuporn wearing the t-shirt with the antithesis of his role model Thaksin

Jatuporn Prompan, one of the core leaders of the anti-government "red shirt" protesters, is taken into custody after he surrendered, at the police headquarters in Bangkok May 19, 2010.

I can't get the other English language daily's website to load. First the reds covered or disabled every camera so we wouldn't know what they are doing so now they shut the news down also? Curfew cannot come too soon along with marshall law. I would call these people rabid but they know what they are doing. This may go down as the biggest act of anarchy in modern history if the authorities can't get control of it. Good luck to all who dislike Taksin and a pox on those who like him.
