France Bans Thaksin From Talking Politics

As a terrorist, he can't fly so he is stuck in France till Thai Government is working on the extradition process. But knowing him he already flee and in hiding again

He's got his own plane, he can fly anywhere.

Perhaps Air-Traffic-Control might care to direct his aircraft towards Iceland ? :):D

This thread is so funny.

For how long have Gov been hunting Thaksin ?

It appears he can fly almost everywhere.

On the table every country deny him to make a political move. But beyond the cover, it doesn't seem likely.

The more this Gov doing things stupid, the more Thaksin will have more space in international community.

As for a terrorism charges, only low IQ stupids consider it a hope to bring down Thaksin.

There will be no concrete evidence to point out he managed all the chaos except his phone call.

His network is just about everywhere. He doesnt need to do any of this himself.

Do you think Reds entirely depend on him ? Think carefully.

For the weapon show by the Gov this evening, what a joke. only idiot will believe them.

IF the Reds has so much weapons like it was show on TV, they would have fired back right then.

Seige airport - you'r going to be a miniter. Burn down city - you going to take a nice trip at Hua hin beach.

Thailand is a completely mess. No country should take Thailand seriously.

Not until it holds enough credibility, legitimacy, human rights and democracy.

France has a long history of Basque ETA using their territory as a safe house

and staging area to attack Spanish territory, they are NOT amused with this.

Thaksin if charged will face a tough slog, as long as he isn't charged with a chance

of capital punishment France will ship him out. But if he gets a capital charge they

might not easily allow him out. But his life waiting it out there will be miserable

in a tough french gaol too. So charge him with some thing tough then the capital charge,

if applicable, when he's on Thai soil, etc.

He can get in a car and drive into most Schengen countries without issue

once issued a Schengen area visa for a member country. From there a quiet

border crossing to a non-Schengen country might not be so hard.

Depends where they are looking for him, and how strong the charge is.

At least France shut him up over this Monday speech he planned.

Thaksin fraudulently obtained a one year German residence visa in Bonn, according to the German ambassador to Thailand, and is persona non grata in Germany. That makes him ineligible for a Schengen visa. However, he now has a Montenegrin passport, presumably under an assumed name, which entitles him to visa free travel to the Schengen countries. He could easily travel from France to Germany, since there are no immigration controls, yet but he would be deported, if he were caught there. His lawyer said he was going to London from France which I think was a lie intended to impress the faithful in Thailand. The UK thankfully has not joined the Schengen scheme and Montenegrins and Nicaraguans need visas to go there. He may be able to slip into the UK on his Nicaraguan passport, if he still has it, as that doesn't need a visa for the UK, and he might also have purchased Belizean, Panamanian or Bahamanian passports which also don't need visas for short visits but he still has to get past immigration officers and his mug shot is well known in the UK due to his stint as a football boss there. The UK is also more likely to hold him for extradition proceedings than France. I doubt he will go back to France soon, since the presentation organized by his revolting Canadian lawyer has been cancelled by the French government. If the court issues a terrorism warrant against him, he can kiss goodbye to travel to any civilized country due to fear of extradition.

I was just reading in The Bangkok Post how Thaksin's new lawyer - Bob Amsterdam - claims that Thaksin has no link at all to the red shirt movement. Amsterdam spent 3 days with the red shirts before the army moved in and has now moved his base for lies and distortions to Hong Kong. You should watch this Amsterdam:

the locals got their rebuttals...they said they're too poor to shop their because her parents are major cheaters that stole their country's money.

I have never seen anyone draw so much negative attention to themselves as Thaksin's family. they could live the easy, quiet life with a silver spoon in their mouth, instead they just keep ranting and raving!!

Yep - they keep opening their mouths to change feet! This is always the problem with liars - they have to keep telling other lies to cover the last - look at Takky on his speech about paying the reds - funny as hel_l. ooops... But the comment of Marie Antionette - I say give Takky and his whole family the guillotine!

Asked whether it would be easier to gain foreign cooperation to deport Mr Thaksin back to Thailand if court had issued warrant of arrest, Mr Panitan said the process would be conducted in a serious and systematic way. Sufficient backup information have been gathered to allege Mr Thaksin, while the global community also abides by the UN's Convention Against Transnational Organized Crime.

Time to get him now.

withdraw his passport ,,

before he can do a runner, to his war HQ, in cambodia .

Interestingly enough, I know where a

working guillotine on wheels with a trailer hitch is stored.

Perfect operational order, except maybe some oiling is needed.

Last used in early 60's France and stored in a museum open to the public.

Blade sharp, good tread on the tires.

Always wondered how for how long and what types of messages the brain gives out, after the slice.

Never thought they would ever wire someone up in this day and age, and find out diffinitively.

But a scientifically interesting question, answerable with todays technologies.

Ah but I digress...

extra long incarceration is a misery much longer savored.

And so much more appropriate.

Even if you have a fair idea, it's still quite staggering to see the entire (evil) empire laid out in black and white (thanks Phuket Stan)!

However though, based on the, erm ... 'miraculous' escape from the, erm ... 'random arson/sabotage' near the Red infested base last Wednesday, you have to add Siam Paragon/World somewhere onto this list!

Just the simple, commendable facilitator of a so-called 'peasant' revolt against a so-called 'Elite' - and but essentially a 'peasant' himself?? .... WTFFFF!!! :D  ..... Unless you're dumber than Palin AND have imbibed most of the output of the 'Golden Triangle', you're not going to believe that!!!  :)

Thaksin is to blame for giving poor Thais a taste of political empowerment. Thaksin set the wheels in motion, but now the genie's out of the bottle. There's no turning back. He could drop dead of a heart attack tomorrow and it would have little impact on the strength of the grassroots movement he inspired. Ordinary Thais learned a lesson they'll never forget: the ballot box is a powerful weapon for change.

Good.

Now let's hope they understand the responsibilities that come with using that tool. The first one is that nobody is above the law, and you can not elect criminals to positions of authority, no matter how many spoils of their crimes they offer you. Adherence to the law comes first. Don't be surprised when coups are launched to set things right if you break that covenant with society.

Once all ordinary Thais figure that out, we may actually be heading somewhere good for a change. I wonder how many generations it will take to get there, and how much bloodshed there will be in the meantime?

One thing is for sure. Based on the rhetoric I still see coming from the red camp, we're a long way away from that goal. All we have to look forward to right now is more violent red mobs filled with frustration because their new found sense of empowerment doesn't immediately give them the easy life they want.

Say what you want, but Thaksin's irresponsible terrorist attacks have not been good for Thailand or the Thai people.

Unfortunately for your POV, Greg, the coup didn't set anything much right at all. And some of the major players in the coup are also involved in such stellar pieces of political quality as the useless zeppelin and all those expensive empty boxes that Pornthip was recently rolled out to champion as 'bomb detectors'. Add to them the debacle of Bangkok's new bus fleet and we can only scratch our heads about the incidents of corruption that aren't so bizarre as to make such big news as the ones I've flagged up. Not trying to justify the odious Thaksin's behaviour here, but anybody thinking that the current alternatives are in any way better needs to take their head out of tweeting bird land.

then they haven't learned a d_mn thing. thats the wrong mindset for a new beginning and a modernization. I see a lot of it is their refusal and resistance to change and assimilate with all Thais, rather than divide people.

Unfortunately many people have bought into the clever spin of 'empowerment at the ballot box', 'taste of political power' etc.

The bottom line is quite different.

Thaksin and his PT leeches and their predessors (who all benefitted in terms of obtaining and maintaining their local mansions, triple expensive cars in the drive way in Buri Ram and Ubon etc etc) in fact added just one more factor to the occasional hand outs in return for putting the X on the right spot at the ballot box.

That additional factor was PR - thaksins face seen regularly in person and in clever 'marketing', along with a lot more clever PR basically saying 'I am your saviour'. In reality their immediate in-hand benefits were very little and longer-term the benefits were close to zero, in fact many got into further debt, got addicted to mobile phones etc. To put it in other words, by promises he tricked them into false hope.

And there is still plenty of evidence that a large proportion of Essan people (and other areas too) have very little real understanding of what happens when they put their X on the ballot paper and their is still plenty of evidence of large numbers of people being bused to the polling booth under pressure from local village heads / local canvassers etc.

Years back I can recall one of my Bkk based students saying "but they can actually put their X anywhere on the ballot paper, nobody would know". His comment sparked intense laughter across the class, then another student explained that the unaware locals believe that the papers are marked and that there could be cameras, and other processed to monitor how people actually voted, etc etc., and until very recently there was in fact no privacy whatever in the actual voting room. That's of course the start of another story in recent Thai political history.

I can slso confirm that K. Vikrom is NOT a thaksin supporter.

But there's another point - with all this wealth why did he just give false hope to the Essan people?

If he really was genuine he would have donated new schools with state of the art equipment, plus modern technical schools to prepare people for high value added technical employment etc.

In other words building the foundation for long-term sustainable growth and wealth creation.

He didn't! He bought their votes and tricked them into false hope!

never mind if 90% of the country is suffering working as slave for few money, can't have access to good medical care and school. never mind.

never mind

also we, "rich" farangs like thialand in this way. that's why we're here. here we look handsome and rich. We even can buy love everyday for few money.

PS: don't try to say i'm pro-thaksin. i don't people like Thaksin! I don't want he comes back. hope he stays far dorm thailand.

I'm just for the democracy and a better distributed wellness and i'm against the classism. if u live in thailand u know very well for rich people

the poor is not just poor, is a monkey. that's what i hate.

Instead of all this bleeding heart BS, why don't you tell us what policies you would like a government to implement?

You think getting rid of inequality is easy?

Why don't you acknowledge the great things Abhisit has achieved including:

Free education

Guaranteed income for farmers

transfer of loan shark loans to government banks at affordable interest rates

I could go on

Agree totally. Abhisit and Korn have been developing and implementing policy and actions ever since they took over aimed at gaining sustained change.

Thaksin was banned from speaking with French journalists at a dinner-debate on 31 May at the Center of Political and Foreign Affairs. The French authorities are now seeking his appearance in order to make sure he does not make any public statements in the country.

Thailand's Thaksin cancels Paris appearance: organisers

Thailand's ex-prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra cancelled an appearance in Paris for security reasons, organisers said Monday, after France's government said it asked him not to speak publicly.

"We strongly regret that (Thaksin) has decided today not to come to France for strict security reasons," said a spokeswoman for the Centre of Political and Foreign Affairs, the Paris think-tank that had invited him to speak.

The French foreign ministry said last week it had persuaded Thaksin to abandon the planned speech because of the tense situation in Thailand, where political instability has boiled over into deadly street violence.

Thailand's government accuses Thaksin of backing and financing the "Red Shirt" protestors involved in the street protests. It last week issued a warrant to arrest him on terrorism charges.

Funny that Thaksin cancelled his speech because the French banned him from making political speeches, but now is saying he cancelled because of "security reasons." :)

He IS a cancer himself and spreads crime in a metastatic way throughout Thailand.

Hemorrhoid i believe would be a bit more appropriate. Still hanging in there, with many people trying to wipe him out. Maybe if he cleaned up his act he would not be such a pain in the rectal area for this lovely country that we call Thailand. Land of smiles biggrin.gif
