Just saw the following news on another website...

Foreign firms that set up their offices in Thailand will not have to pay corporate income taxes for 15 years, Deputy Finance Minister Pradit Phattaraprasit said on Monday.

The exemption will begin on June 1, 2010.

Foreign firms that have offices in Thailand will need to pay corporate income taxes at only 10 per cent of net profit inside the country.

Expatriates who work at the regional operating headquarters (ROH) in Thailand are required to pay personal income tax at the rate of 15 per cent for eight years, starting June 1.

Good news if you are opening a business or work for a Regional Headquarters here i guess?

As usual very little detail in the announcement.

Maybe I will close my business tomorrow and open a new one if I don't have to pay tax for 15 years. :)

How about no visa for retirement and marriage. :)

LOL, in our dreams! That would make the unemployment rise dramatically! Think of all the Immigration Police that would be out of work!

Im sure they make sure that wont work this way. Besides you have to pay your accountant good money to close it (accountants are sharks here they really rip you off)

Yes Rob but no corporate tax for 15 years - I think the accountant fees, startup fees could be worth it.

Anyways I will await more details such as (oh, this only applies to company's investing 100 million baht and hiring 1000 workers).

Then you know your goal, just hire some more people and invest a bit more. :D
