How do I say "I'd like to transfer cash to Y account"

(I'll be walking into the bank with cash, and want it transfered to someone else's account)

my best guess . . . after walking into the bank and meeting a clerk . . .

อยากส่งเงินสดไปเข้าในปันชีของเพื่อนคับ

I would say ผมขอออนเงินให้เพั่ิอนนะครับ

SIGH!! Yes, my face is red. The mistake hit me about an hour after I sent the reply. More years than I would ever admit struggling with this language and it defeats me every day. But I still get up and go at it again the next day.

I thought โอน was more like a transfer of money. In English a transfer would mean between bank accounts. If it means the same in Thai this would be wrong as the OP said that he would be walking in to the bank with the cash. Any thoughts?

โอนเงิน is the button you press on the ATM when you are doing a transfer.

I'd use ฝากเงิน for that purpose.

I thought,

โอนเงิน, meant send money to, and,

ฝากเงิน, meant to deposit.

It may well be a case of trying to translate a farang way of thinking into Thai, rather than thinking like a Thai.

I would use the following,

อยากฝากเงินให้เพื่อนคับ

I showed up to the bank . . . there were like 5 different forms and I really didn't know which to use or how to fill it out . . . so I walk up to a lady and say

"อยากโอนเงินระหว่างบัญชีของเพื่อน"

then followed it up with a

"่ทำอย่างไงดีครับ?

And after a few questions from her, she filled it all out for me. Success! But . . . I didn't even get her name

Does anyone know of a term for the recent credit crunch?

I looked up recession and came up with ภาวะเศรษฐกิจโลกชะลอตัว which was given for global recession or global economic slow down. Anyone know anything that'll roll off the lips quicker than that?

As an aside while looking at this on thai-language.com i found this little gem. ภาวะที่กางเกงในเข้าไปติดในง่ามก้น - wedgie or literally being in a state of having your underwear stuck in the crack of your arse.

i could use some thai termnology for bookkeeping:

expenses/debit/credit... etc... like u would use to keep a handwritten ledger of business expenses and revenues/inventory... basically, teaching thai husband how to keep books but i need it in thai/thai tranlisterated english. actually havent a clue since living on kibbutz and dont run my own business, found some stuff in hebrew but doesnt help him, nor me to teach himm the explanations...

any help?

or alternately, websites with terminology and explanations with examples (in thai).. like a DIY small business tips type thing?

I did a little search on google for คำสัพท์ธนาคาร and a few websites came up.

Here's one with a load of accounting terms http://www.buncheeaudit.com/accountvocab.htm with their English equivalent.

You could search again and have a look yourself, alternatively you could try คำสัพท์บัญชี

thanx... i found some stuff; even found an on line accounting tips course in thai (from one of those companies that sell spread sheets and stuff)...

will check out those sites also... kind of did it with copy/paste of likely words but since i cant read the content kind of hard to tell if it has what im looking for...
