Floodlights On Pattaya Beach Road?

They're erecting tall plylons the length of the promenade parallel with Beach Road. It looks like they're preparing to floodlight the entire area. Has anyone heard officially what's going on? Is the plan to make the Beach Road visible from space?

This is the Pattaya city council, nobody has a clue what's going on! They were probably stanchions left over from the motor way construction that no-one bothered to pilfer.

They are intent on ruining it the same way they ruined the beach in Jomtien.

I used to live on Jomtien beach before all the wonderful trees were cut down and the flood lights introduced (along with irritating music).

It was much nice prior to the changes.

The lights are no doubt some security measure given all the crime that is going on.

At a Feb. 26 Pattaya City Council meeting, Deputy Mayor Verawat Khakhay said trash and homeless people are giving Pattaya Beach a bad reputation as being dirty and unsafe. He said the city cannot solve the problem alone and urged those who make their living on the sand to help out.

Verawat also called on the Pattaya Engineering Department to install more lighting along the beachfront to discourage loitering and said police and security officials need to crackdown on vagrants who live and sleep on the beach.
