In the northern city of Chiang Mai, Facebook social media members along with the Chiang Mai "Jit Asa" (volunteer spirit) youth group will stage the "Chiang Mai Big Cleaning Day" next Saturday, which also falls on World Environment Day. Facebook members, youths and other volunteers would spruce up Rajdamnoen Road from Tha Phae Gate to Phra Singworawihan Temple, Sitthiporn Ritthisorakrai, founder and coordinator of Facebook Chiang Mai, said. The group, which emerged from a gathering of people to express political opinions after the turmoil eased, agreed they should plan an event for continue their momentum. It was also an expression of |private sector cooperation, he said. "Cleaning the city is a way to show that it's time we move on with public participation regardless of their political colours," he said.
