Thailand Appears Back To Normal: PM

My NBT has just black out.

In the middle of the government debate.

When the opposition is talking about the killings.

NBT playing black out games?

Amusing considering every time the PM gives a speech it gets blacked out too. Wonder if the damage the reds did to the broadcasting infrastructure of NBT in their locales to try and oprevent the government staion reaching people during their littel picnic in the streets had any effect on all this.

Put the radio on it is live all over the country. The opposition are making a a real mess of the censure too as expected. They only have Chalerm who can actually speak

Edited to add: Chaiya and Sunai have wasted loads of time saying nothing much. They need Amsterdam to coach them on winning lies and memes

I have no radio at home. To be honest, after the mass introduction of TV, not many people have radio anymore. Just like the pager is dead because of SMS.

Clock radio? Hi-fi? Mobile phone? Car stereo? Seriously, no radio?

What is a clock radio?

My mobile phone have black & white screen, and no radio.

Car stereo? I only have a 2nd hand Honda wave.

you know there is a difference between a TV and a Clock radio. On TV you can see videos clips, photos visual evidence, but on radio not. for this reason the TV signal was blacked out.

House Speaker Vows to Be Strict in Censure Debate

UPDATE : 31 May 2010

The parliament president has reiterated that the opposition's video evidence must be scrutinized ahead of the parliamentary censure debate.

House Speaker Chai Chidchob insists that all evidence to be shown at the upcoming parliamentary censure debate must be scrutinized by a commission first. Chai also said that Jatuporn Promphan, an opposition MP and key red-shirt leader, will be allowed to speak at the debate session.

The opposition has been allocated 18 hours to present their cases, while the coalition government will have 13 hours to rebut.

Chai believes that the debate will be conducted with an aim to bringing about a reconciliation.

The parliament president revealed that he has yet to receive the evidence to be presented at the parliament debate from the opposition.

However, Chai said that inappropriate video evidence will be prohibited from being shown at the censure debate session....

What is the definition or difference between a Liar, Actor and a ruthless monster and murderer,

Abhisit is the textbook definition.

He's certainly not a murderer. Justify these stupid comments, please. What do you think he should have done then? And I don't mean anything ridiculous like dissolve parliament because crooks, thieves and bribed farmers decide to be homeless in the center of the city capital. Obviously the police support and were empowered by thaksin, so they wouldn't have stepped in.

Say something intelligent rather that actor, liar, murderer, thats cheap and thoughtless. Untrue as well.

"Back to normal".... what a smug, obnoxious announcement by PM "Abhisit"

Not sure how this pathetic excuse for a man can even hold his head up in public after controlling the murder of scores of innocent civillians and reporters.

Can't wait to see him behind bars where he belongs.

Why does he belong behind bars? Think about his situation and what he was dealing with. Continual threats from the Reds, being faced with the threatening language and threats of force and so on, plus dealing with a whole range of police/military commanders who did not understand his hands off approach. I think by any objective analysis he actually handled the whole show remarkably well. If Thaksin had been PM how many thousands would have been killed or maimed? I think this type of post hides a different agenda because it actually doesn't make sense. In my view Thailand is a lot better under Abhisit than any of those on the red stage.

:D

The IF question how many would have been killed under Thaksin should be easy to answer.

Wasn't the April 2549 election hold because of the street protest by the PAD? Thaksin dissolved the parliament and called for a snap election.

But of course elections are not everyones favourite tool of democracy. Back then the Democrats and Abhisit boycotted the election.

Nowadays with a government led by the democrats and Abhisit as PM, they decided to shot at their opponents, kill the protesters.

And you argue Thailand has become better now. :)

Sure Thailand is better now. We're not lead by a 'leader' who steals billions and murders 3000 of his own people. I wonder how many more would have died if the coup didn't overthrow the beloved leader. 5000? 10000? Yeah let's cry about 80 rebels and terrorists trying to overthrow the government while ignoring the mass murder of 3000 people.

You Red sympathizers are so pathetic. You always rant about the coup that overthrew the murdering kleptomaniac but never about the thousands he killed or the billions he stole.

You have to go back and look at what sparked the protests to find the reason for the election. Thaksin had broken laws in the deal selling Shin Corp to Temasek. The PAD were on his back about it and he wished to both shut them up and ensure that his power was so overwhelming and far-reaching that there would be no danger of him facing any legal procedings. That's why he called an election; because he knew that if he should win, he could achieve both those goals. You might think that endorsing crime is a good and justified use of the ballot box... others do not.

What a nonsense and deep yellow propaganda BS.

How could an election justify the "crime of the Temesak deal"? That are two separate things. Over the PM and the party in power decided the electorate, the people. Over criminal offences a court.

From this time comes also the Thaksin words that 'he cannot allow mob rule'. His answer to the mob was to let the people decide on the ballot box.

Look what sparked the protest of the Red shirts.

But Abhisit is scared of the ballot box because he knows he would never win if the people decide.

The court decision to confiscate Thaksin's money was the spark.... well, the latest spark of their protests which ended up with the sparking and torching of Bangkok.

Thaksin politicized the Themasak deal. He had his foot in his mouth and became over confident! Thats exactly the moment where het started thumbling down!

And thats not yellow propaganda, thats just an opinion.

Abhisit is not afraid of elections, he offered to have early elections. Rejected by people with similar thoughts as you seem to have.

The antiThaksin propaganda politicized the Temasak deal.

Abhisit boycotted the april 2006 election.

And his offers you cannot trust, he promised an earlier election allready over one year ago but that never became true.

Abhisit boycotted the april 2006 election.

With good reason and as was his party's legal right.

And his offers you cannot trust,

It baffles me how a Thaksin follower could possibly pretend that keeping one's word was a trait they placed any importance in.

Well to offer earlier elections now after the Red Shits tried to burn down our city would be rewarding criminals with what they want. The Red Shits had their chance for November elections. They blew it.

How can we stop lowly educated people who don't speak English (like Thaksin) from voting in the next election.

MP should come from appointment (at least 70%) rather than election. This will stop vote buyer from getting into government.

How about a bit of education on the political system (not the corrupt part of it)?

Appointment is just more corruption.

NO.

To avoid corruption, we can just appoint ONLY non corrupted people.

Like Sondhi, Dr. Tul, Chanlong, etc.

Problem solved.

I don't think studying to Phd level in America is what anybody would describe as being a lowly education. Quite how Thaksin managed that feat with such poor language skills is indeed a mystery though.

I guess then you must have some rational explanation as to how someone with such poor language skills manages to complete a Phd in English. Why not share it with us?

P.S. Speaking of language skills, could you possibly explain what "uni....cock.." means?

Rucharee. I hope you realize that you're really only helping Thaksin and the Red side by posting absurdities like that. By the way - yes it will stop vote buyers. It will be much simpler if MPs buy their seats directly instead of painstakingly buying votes.

...uni....He probably managed to complete his Phd., in Criminal Justice (ironic perhaps) at Eastern Kentucky University.

Not quite Harvard or Oxford, but I am sure his wealth managed to oil a few of the academic wheels.

After all, his kids slid dubiously through University in Thailand as you may recall.

as for ...cock, it's a British slang familiar term like mate or buddy. Wotcha cock.... Maybe chuang is a Brit?

It's not humour, it's exactly the same brand of sarcasm that you have turned to using in the face of a losing argument. Rather sad if anything.

I believe if we only appoint foreign born, good English speaking Thais as MP. All the 400+ MPs in the house now will be smart, good looking, gentle, hornest, hard working, sexy, .... , just like our beloved Mark.

This will be utopia, or haven in Thailand.

After the uproar when Thaksin sold Shin Corp to Temasek with no tax payable, he promised to answer questions in Parliament regarding the issue, but then he reneged on that and dissolved Parliament when he realised he couldn't answer the questions.

He reasoned that if he won the election 'the people would have spoken' and he wouldn't have to face any embarrassing questions.

Thaksin believes if he wins an election he can do whatever he wants, checks, balances, transparency are all irrelevant because the people have chosen him to lead.

A dictator who has got his karma.

And maybe a refresher is needed for those who weren't, and still aren't, here then. Back in 2006 when it all kicked off. Does anyone remember the constitutional crisis the country was facing? Does anyone remember how that crisis was solved by the peoples saviour, Thaksin, resigning? (Note to certain members; the last sentence was sarcasm). The following Time article sums it up quite well, and is well worth a read to anyone unsure of what really went on back then. It certainly puts the lie to all the claims on here that "a democratically elected PM was deposed by an evil military coup":

"Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra steps down and defuses a political crisis. But the country's future remains uncertain"

"Yet two days after the election, Thaksin announced that he would step aside, and appealed for an end to the political crisis that had transfixed the nation. That crisis is far from over, but there is a sense that Thailand has passed the worst".

"We have no time to quarrel," said a somber Thaksin during his televised address on April 4 when he announced he was stepping down. "I want to see Thai people unite."

"Nothing, it seemed, had changed—until Thaksin emerged late on April 4 from a meeting with King Bhumibol Adulyadej and announced that he had decided to step aside"

http://www.time.com/time/asia/covers/501060417/story.html

Many of the quotes seem quite ironic now we all know that Thaksin lied to the country. He didn't resign, he clung on illegally as the self imposed caretaker PM. His family members were appointed at or near the top of the police and army. He was heading for complete, one man control of the country. A self appointed, non elected caretaker PM was removed from power using the army because no one else had the balls and/or power to do so for the good of the country. He promised to resign on April 4th, even telling HM the King that he would do so, but had to be deposed in a coup in September to finally get rid of him. He lied to the country.
